I didn't see a thread for it. For shame!

I really like it so far. It's the first Final Fantasy I've owned, and because of it I'll definately be getting IV, V, and VI. :)

It's a GREAT game.
Sadly I haven't beat it yet.
Because I accidently destroyed my files... couple of times.

I got to the part when I get Setzer and the airship.(yeah that's not really far I know but god damnit why did I accidently press the eject button in my PS while saving)

if you havnt owned a FF before then i automatically assume you havnt played the PSX and PS2 ones

under that assumption, FF7 has major story loopholes and yes you CAN get yuffie before you take the boat, i don't know why noone believes me, ive done it every time, so thats about 5 times now.

FF8 is pretty girly but the draw system, GFs and weapon "making" are easy and can make the game really fun, story much better.

FF9 is a bit cartoony, but isnt as bad as people might say it is, the skill system is easy and theres alot to do.

FFX.... im not one to say anything about this game, i just hate tidus too much

FFX-2... most people say the same thing, trust them, dont pick it up unless its around 8 dollars and used

FFXI (Online) I have a review for this one

Other than that FF games have a very good story, im not sure which one III is, but im fairly sure i havnt played it in depth, at least with an intelligent translation, FFVI was great so i really suggest that one though.

FF9 is pretty awesome. It's a return to the older style FFs kinda.
FF10 is great, though the sphere system kinda sucks. The story is sold and fun, though a bit predictable at times. It's not the best, but it's enjoyable and well worth playing.
FF12 is the real awesome in Final Fantasy though. That and Final Fantasty Tactics (big surprise there, given they have the same team/world =-p).

yeah..but you cant group FFT and FFXII together, theyre completely different genres, stories and consoles.

still really happy i picked up my FFT at Wal-Mart before they stopped selling PS1 games, 10 bucks for that?! dang.

The only final fantasy I didn't like are FFX and FFX-2 (I do not own the FFX-2 luckily)
Isn't FFIII exactly as FFVI?

Yes, and no.

When the game known in Japan as Final Fantasy VI was released in the US, it was called, Final Fantasy III, as it was the third Final Fantasy game released in the US (disregarding the first Mana game, which was called Final Fantasy Legend in the US, iirc). This followed the pattern set with FF IV/II.

A few years ago, however, the game was packaged with FFV (which had never been released in the US), and restored in the US to its original name - FFVI.

The FFIII that the original post mentions is actually the original FFIII, which has never been released in the US - until now. Square-Enix has been rereleasing the older FF games on the hand-held Nintendo game systems, and FFIII is now available exclusively on the Nintendo DS. I believe you can also get I, II, and IV-VI on the Game Boy Advance, though I'd need to double check that information (and you can't get all five games together in a single package).

Pretty much everyone in the thread is talking about that game.

Except, of course, the person who originally posted...

This is why they should never have called FFVI FFIII.

FFIII for the DS is a lot of fun. It is entirely old school, and I know a lot of new gamers have mentioned they dislike the system. I love it personally. The job system has always been one of my favs, and even though tis a weak story, its still a lot of fun playing.

I think things will get more confusing when they release FFVI on the GBA... I know lots of people were very confused when the yreleased Anthology, which included the game they called III as VI.

Silly Square...

VI was called III because it was the third game released in the US. IV was the second, and was called II as a result. At the time, Square didn't think that the three missing games would do well in the US, which is why they weren't released here. The names were changed to avoid confusion on the part of US consumers who might wonder about the missing games.

Well, If you played the original three (the NES version on an emulator) then the DS one, there is a HUGE difference. I played a little of the NES 3 and, wow, no plot. All three had was "lets go fight evil with our new powers" and they went off to find evil. Three for the DS, hey look, plot! Mind you its the same plot as always, evil threatens world and crystals, you need to fight the evil to save world.

Also for the record, six(3), is by far my all time favorites, next to five (i have it for emulator) and 12, i liked seven, but not cause of sephiroth (who is so over rated and cries to much about his mother) hated 8, 9 was good, 10 wasn't to my liking, and X-2 and 11 are not final fantasy (X-2= Charlies Angels the fantasy game and 11 is Everquest with a new name and other players) :P
