All posts made by newly registered users are moderated for content. That means no other visitor to the forums can see a new user's post until one of the staff has reviewed the post and approved it.
Essentially that means spam posts are deleted without ever being seen by forum goers. And then... your account is banned.
If you're a spammer, you're wasting your time here.

A lot of New Users have been littering my email and PM inboxes with questions about why I keep deleting their messages and why they can't do anything with their user profile.
Information about what it means to be a new user is presented to you twice during the registration process. Once in the forum rules before you submit your info to register: (2nd paragraph)
All posts created by "New Users" are moderated for content. Until such time as a user is promoted to full membership, none of their posts will be viewable by other visitors to these forums without having been read and approved by a member of the staff. This allows us to keep spam off of our forums.
And once after you click the "to complete your registration" link:
Important: Please Read!
Thank you for registering, [your name]. Your account has been flagged as a "New User". This means you are not yet a full member of the GU Forums. You have the ability to submit/reply to posts and threads. Though a Moderator will have to approve them before other visitors can read them. Be patient, we approve posts as quickly as possible.
Other items such as Signatures, Profiles, and Custom Titles are restricted. After you've contributed to the forums enough for the Moderators to safely consider you a non-spammer, your account will be switched to being a full member and you will be given all rights associated with that distinction. You will be notified by email when this happens.

I realize that internet users have this tendancy to not want to read, but I do everything I can to keep the pertinent information here as clear and concise as possbile so you don't have to read that much.
