It's great to see Weiss and Hickman return to Krynn and the original Heroes of the Lance. This is the first of several (3 maybe) novels set in between the original series.
If you are a fan of Dragonlance, then you will remember that back in the ancient times (1980s) when the modules were released, there was much that took place in the modules written by Weiss and Hickman that did not take place in the novels... or was only hinted at in passing.
This first novel concerns the refugees of Solace trek from Pax Tharkas, and the opening of the gates of Thorbardin. Good stuff that fills in alot of missing material from the original trilogy.
Weiss and Hickman seem to slip right back into the old familiar characters (Raistlin, Tanis, Tass, etc...)
I'm looking forward to the Icewall segment.
