I know we got some fans of DKM here, so I figured a thread on their albums would be interesting.

So far my fav album of theirs is the Warrior's Code. The first time I heard "Fields of France" I wept. It's amazing. Also, one of my favourite songs is "I'm Shipping Up to Boston" which can be heard in the soundtrack of Scorsese's The Departed. I played that song while i was driving up to boston from florida. "Courting in the Kitchen" is awesome as well. And then, of course, they've got "Tessie" which is quite appropriate because the Red Sox won the World Series that previous year(btw, I predicted that they would win). An amazing song is "Last Letter Home" which uses lines from actual letters from soldiers in the middle east and their families.

My second favourite album is Blackout, I just love the "Fields of Athenry" and "Black Velvet Band". I love singing along with "The Dirty Glass".

Well, I pretty much love all their songs.

Here's a question for the DKM fans, do you prefer Al Barr or Mike McColgan? I prefer Al Barr, I'm in love with him and his voice.

Also, I got a ticket for the soldout st. pat's concert. I'm awesome.

I try getting Warrior's Code, or Sing It Loud, Sing It Proud. Also get a website with lyrics, because they can be a little hard to understand for those who havn't listened to them before. Amazing band, and personally I like Barr better.

www.songmeanings.net is a good one because the meanings are posted for the songs, by users. Most of it is interpitation though, but I think most of it sounds about right.

DKM is one of my favourite bands, no mistake about that. I'd advocate starting at the beginning. And if you can get to a live show, do so. (I've not had the opportunity to see them live yet myself.)

Well, if you can afford a trip over to mainland europe you can see them this month.

Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Austria, or Italy. A couple of them are sold out already though.

I am hoping that maybe I can score tickets in March to the show in Kansas City, MO, but I'm not holding my breath. Also, any word on when they are coming out with a new album? I figure they are touring alot so that they can build up their popularity, but it would be nice to have some new DKM songs to listen to.

Random triva: Al Barr is also one of the 99 names of God (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Al_Barr).

This along with "Fields of Athenry" is my favorite tune by them. You are right... very moving song.

I really do enjoy DkM. I always loved Never Alone by them when it was on Tony Hawk.(I think) So after falling in love with the Street Dogs(Mike's new band, GREAT band), and listening to "Shipping up to Boston". So I went to get The Meanest Of Times. Excellent album.

I like Mike more personally. Also, give Street Dogs a listen.

I also think that Johnny, I Hardly Knew Ya is the most pirate-esque song ever.

Like Argo, I'd have to give my love to Mike. Best Album, in my opinion, is Do or Die. Captures that old skool punk sound that just makes you stand up and yell Oi! The album is full of the classic DKM hits.

Being from the Boston area I've been aware of these guys since the very beginning, but I've never been a huge fan. Punk/Irish Music mix never did much for me.

It was great to see them blow up nationally with the "Tessie" (Essentially the theme song for the Red Sox 2004 championship season) "Shipping up to Boston" (When the Departed was released) one-two punch.
