bob the goat

At $130 it was a hard decision to plop down the cash. I don’t have a very high opinion of Bose sound in general, so it was an even higher hurdle. I read some favorable reviews online, so I decided to try them out. The problem I have with all of my other headphones is that they sit on my ear and after a few hours they begin to hurt. By hour 4 I am in agony. Unacceptable.
So, I get the Bose headphones. Out of the box you will notice that they are so light they feel fake. I actually wondered if they forgot to put the guts in the ear pieces and wondered if they would work. I plugged them in and popped them on my head. I have a very large head (I wear a 7 1/2 fitted hat) and these were able to adjust to my size. The cups sit around your ear, not actually touching it, and have amazingly soft pads on them. The only word that I think can appropriately describe the feeling when these things slip on your ears is erotic. They are soft and warm and cuddle your head. For comfort and weight I give them an 11 out of 10. They are better than I knew perfect can be.
Before the next section I want to explain something about me. The human ear is only able to hear sound that is between 20 and 20,000Hz. I have worked setting up and running sound systems my entire life, and can hear a pin drop on carpet in a crowded room. I can pick out the most inaudible noises mixed in sound. One thing that may skew this review is that for some reason I can hear sound higher than 20,000hz. In high school my physics teacher brought in a machine that could produce sound of any frequency and amplitude. He demonstrated different frequencies for us. At 20K most of the class could not hear the noise any more. I heard it until over 26K. Since then it has diminished, but I can hear the high pitch whine of TV’s from a distance.
I plugged the headphones in and was greeted with a very full sound that sounded AMAZING, even at very loud volumes. I could pick out footsteps amid the firing of a machine gun. Amazing bass took me by surprise. Music was absolutely STUNNING. The other thing I like is that the cups over your ears provide an ambient sound muffling akin to shooting ear muffs. You don’t hear ambient noise from the room you are in. At all. I could not hear the TV that was 10 feet away. I loved that. I can not give a more glowing review of these headphones.
However, they put out a high pitched noise. It was high enough that neither my Fiancé, Roommate, or sister could hear it. I could hear it on my PC, my surround, and even my MP3 player. It was present when ever it was plugged into something powered, whether it was making noise or not. In the end I had to return them because I could not stand the whining noise that no one else could hear.
If you do not hear the ultra high pitch noises like I do, these are the best headphones I have ever felt on my head, and I would definatly suggest them.
