I'm looking for a few new comics to read, preferably somehting with a bit of volume already published.
I've read stuff like: Bone, transmetropolitan, hellblazer, Sandman, original darkknight trilogy, V for vendetta, watchmen sin city several europeans like tintin, Asterix, Dampir and a few others-
I presently read preacher, lucifer and I occationally pick up the manga vagabond- And i intend to get my grubby hands onthe Nikopol Trilogy by Enki Bilal.
But i'm looking for more stuff basically, some sort of fantasy or sf in the traditional sense would be great- but i'm all for anything with a decent story.
Any tips would be appreciated! :)
And no, i don't like fable much...

If you want the scifi stuff, I kind of like a lot of the stuff from Michael Turner's Aspen. Fathom and Soulfire are good. Good stories with great artwork (in my opinion). Also, I think you really might like stuff written by Garth Ennis. Not always in the fantasy relm, but looking at your tastes, you might like his style. Just another opinion, though.

Y The Last Man is a great series, though I haven't kept up with it for about a year or so now.
If you like some of the "regular" series, Astonishing X-Men is a great series, Exiles is a funny series, the Civil War in the Marvel Universe was a pretty good showing too. On the DC side, with the exception of about 10 issues in the middle of what is currently out, the new Superman Batman series is pretty good.

I highly recommend The Gunslinger Born (now in graphic novel form) which is an excellent adaptation of much of the story told in Wizard and Glass (Dark Tower IV). The artwork and story are excellent.

Could just go with the old stand by. Marvels "Cival War" Series is good. Though... expensive.

I just have to add the graphic novel adaptation of George R.R. Martin's "The Hedge Knight" is excellent as well. It is currently available from Marvel, and is a must read imho for any fan of Martin... or comics set in a medieval/fantasy time period.

To res a thread slightly. King has announced that the Gunslinger series is coming to comics with his input. I didn't catch a release date, but it looks to be somewhat soon.
Though somewhat soon and comics rarely go hand in hand. GIVE ME Unlimited Wolverine vs Hulk DAMNIT!!!

See my previous post ;)
The first series is already a done deal and has been out as a graphic novel for awhile. The second series is on issue 2 I believe (I am waiting for the graphic novel however).
They are excellent.

I didn't think it was out already. LOL NPR has an interview with King maybe 2 weeks ago and he was saying that that it wasn't out yet. Maybe they archived it a bit before air.

I love Garth Ennis, allthough i don't think i ever have read any of his series chronologically, or for that matter to completion. Can't believe i forgot about him. Good tips here bta, i've been fingering through some of the stuff suggested here at the local shoppe and made a huge picklist. been to busy with work to get started on any of it. but things are looking up (working to get money, so much so that you don't have time to spend the money? my heart is breaking)
Thanks for the tips, Keep them coming :)

The Boys, by Garth Ennis, one of my favorite comics ever. It's in the vein of Watchmen in showing the humanity of super heroes. The CIA has created and funded a small team known as The Boys who are meant to police super heroes and keep their powers and machinations in check. These are normal joes who are enhanced and set out to fight superheroes who are letting their power get to their head and corrupt them.
It's a little hard to think of good comics off of the top of my head without any of them nearby. But The Boys will do you right.
Edit: Oh, of course. DC Elseworlds. Superman - Red Son is amazing and covers what would have happened if Kent had arrived on Earth 12 hours later and had landed and been rasied in Soviet Russia.
edit2: And Runaways. I finished volume 1 and half of volume 2 and I have to say it's a very, very good comic series. Joss Whedon writes some of it but it's more of the story of six kids who find out their parents are supervillains and run away from home.
