Not a Massively Multiplayer game, but it does support persistant worlds and i'm sure there are those of us here who play it:

NeverWinter nights expansion pack 2 is out, and damn its packed full of goodies (way too numerous to list in entirety). It's not quite table top, but it is close and it comes without that inconvenient social friction! So yeah epic levels up to 40 are in, 6 new Prestige classes, still sporting a a streamlined D&D 3e ruleset. And with multiple henchmen (2 in OC, more can be scripted), the hilarious party dialogue from the Baldurs Gate series is back (I bow to the superior dialogue writing skills of the Canucks, no US made game has ever quite matched Bioware wit)

3 and a half Marileth thumbs up for this one. I know you all value my opinion so much youre sure it's a safe 29.99 USD investment *grin* (note I said "opinion" not "Undeniable Fact of the Universe" as you may be accustomed to. I'm going for a softer gentler image)

So as soon as the bigger persistant worlds get updated to HotU standard (a big change since they were all only designed to accomodate 20 levels) maybe some of us can play together. Anyone who plays is welcome to list their characters or preferred servers etc.

As long as Deekin (from Undrentide) is in it I'm happy :D

Ya Deekin is awesome. Unlike EQ, bards in D&D are actually quite useful!

I'm ordering this tonight, and am seriously thinking of making my own persistant world because I've played them all and in my opinion, they suck. Horribly. It makes me cry.

The engine itself is wonderfully complex and fun to work with making your own stuff.

However, making dialouge trees that dont' allow you to repeat the same question over and over again and make different choices depending on alignment take for freaking ever to make hehe :)

I have yet to beat NWN... and then I have to buy Undrentide (sp?), and /then/ I can think about getting Underdark. ^_^ But I want it! I want it! Thanks for letting me know it'll be good when I do get around to purchasing it, Evil! *hug*

HoU is excellent, at least what I've seen so far of it has been. My one and only gripe is that the official module was single-player... a great disappointment to those of us who were planning to play through with a party. It's possible to sneak extra players in, but we've had some weird issues after doing so.

Despite that, I'd say it's very worth purchasing. Deekin, as before, is just hilarious.

I haven't made any modules myself, but wouldn't that be a simple matter of a few if tests and while loops, depending on the code?

You've played ALL the PWs to level 20 Kaylen? thats quite a feat =P

But in seriousness i wouldnt go so far as to say they all suck, but rather that every PW has quirks, +s and -s, and finding the perfect one is hard. One that compromised well between uber powerful and ultra slow was Aventia, problem was the creator was an ass who basically made it pay to play, regular server wipes if you didnt pay him, custom gear and free level ups for donators. NeverSummer 4 is coming soon, and it looks to be a lot more balamced than the ultra uber NS 3.

I wish i had the time and patience to keep at worldbuilding, cause there are a lot of folks who might enjoy the worlds I'd like to see made.

"Soon as i'm done me drink, I'm goin' huntin! I've got a hankerin' fer some monster brains on me axe. How'd ye like a taste of that fare, lad?"

When i read that line i knew this was going to be fun :) Much much love for Bioware!

I've played all the big ones. One of them I did not play to level 20 because it took an enormous investment of time (think five hours of getting xp back if you die) to get beyond level four.

Not only do I want good roleplay, I'd like the gameplay to be fun, too. And most of the creators of these worlds are so idiotic about some things, it boggles the mind. It also amazes me how much they blatantly rip off of each other and claim the code for whatever they make as their own - it has been done so much, I have no freaking clue who designed the Ambrosia Trade Skill system.

You don't need to play something to 20 to know it sucks. When every quest out there besides ones handled by DMs has some retarded elf saying in as horrid grammar as possible "Go JKill Teh Faeries and bring me da faeirew dust okkK!!11" you can tell it's a very unimaginative world.
