I will annouce that I, MCW do not compare in skill to Woody in the field of art and comic making.

I hope this makes a whole of you guys happy, all I get is complaints on it. Ok, Ive retracted it! Now please stop badgering me about it.

If you want, I could even say im the worst artist in the world, I really dont care, because all I see are people trying to tear at me everytime I post somthing. IT HAS TO STOP, I will not promote any of my skills or talents so that you can drag them down, I will simply coment on this forum.

Also, I post many topics, because I thought it would be easier for the people as well as Woody to naviatigate, we dont need to be off topic just because we have 50 things to say. If you guys really want me to stop this, get Woody to message me somthing, and I will. I only abide to his authority, so if you guys get a poll going, it wont mean anything to me unless I hear it from Woody himself.

I still find it odd, how I can attaract the most negative attention, although I have neither swore, or insulted anyone in anyway, its just comments people, I don't go around calling people stupid or instulting their work, I compliment peoples dragons everyso often in the dragon topic.

I get most of my views "ways of looking at things from history, although trial and error will work, I find it much easier and effiecent to anyilze how someone else does it first and then work from their, I saw Woody's comics about half a year ago, and shortly after began comic making myself, which lead to me being a professinal cartoonist in my local newspaper. Its much faster and efficent to learn from that way. Relating to the communism stuff in the other threads and the Powerful man thing, "if they can run an entire counrty at their command, then they knew what they were doing." People who dismiss dictators as stupid people are idoits themselves for not knowing it takes great knowldge to become powerful, you dont get power and money for not knowing what your doing.

Thanks for your time if you accually read through all of this.

*Takes own head in hands. Slams it into a wall.

And again.

And again.*

The reason everyone tears into you when you post just about anything is because of the sheer ignorance of it. You come off as an egotistical prick. When that stops, people will get along with you. I can't say much more than this because this post you've made demonstrates everything wrong with your behaviour, and most anything else I can think of saying involves lots of rage and yelling and cursing.

In short, grow up. Don't post stuff like this - there is absolutely no point. If you have a problem with someone in particular (myself, for instance), you can discuss it with the individual. If you have a problem with everyone on this forum, perhaps we are not the ones with the problem.

Your art is fine. I just cannot critique things properly, so you should dismiss what I say about it as "that person that thinks everything sucks." However, it is not comporable to Woody's (as you have admitted), and you need to realize the scale of your impact on this community. You are just as important as myself or anyone else in the community. 99% of the people who look at the comic do not have any idea who you are.

If this post is out of line, I request the moderators inform me in whatever way they deem painfully necessary, but someone has to say this (though I believe Takara's sentence put it much better than I can).

I think the reason you've attracted so much negative attention is just how you've presented yourself. To be honest some of your posts have been extremely presumtious (sp?).

And then when those presumtious (sp?) arguments are torn down by pretty much everyone else here, it makes you look ignorant.

It's one thing to say that you're a cartoonist that does cartoons for your hometown, it's another thing to say that you're a cartoonist who's going to give Woody a run for his money.

Stuff like that.

I find the people on these boards to be among the nicest anywhere, and also some of the most intelligent. They even put up with my feeble attempts at trying to seem knowledgeable. But when you are new and come to these boards and make as big of statements as you have, and can't back them up, then they'll put you in your place.

The one thing I seriously have to commend you on is how you've handled such critism. In the past when others have been put in the same situations they've generally reacted with flamage that ends up getting them thwacked with the ban-stick, but you've handled it more maturally.

This is an entirely true and good point.

thanks for your insight, forums are a huge change from what I'm used to. And I'm one to really complain if everyone is telling me where my place is. I thought I said somthing about retracting my statment long ago, I not have, but I forgot, I have tons of stuff to do. So I decided to dedicate another post trying to redeem myself, dont think its gonna work but its a start.

Its a really a shame most people can't deal with critism, but I feel theres a price to pay, when peoples words can slip by you and you never care, the same thing starts to happen with "morals" in a way, my neighbor could be shot down, and it would just slip by... (thats probly why dictators appeal to me, they kill and it never phases me) but I try to pick out the things in critism that can help improve my current stance.

Yes, there are some nice people here, some smart too, thats why I havn't left. If I knew there was no place for me here, I would not go out by being banned, I would simply just disappear, and say it wasnt worth my time.

But atleast, I'm learning how to better adjust myself in the forum.

I have been watching this thread and making some posts recently. The first thing I learned is Woody is well respected and the whole reason most get to this forum in the first place. It is an honor to me to have him reply on my thread. You said you never insult anyone in any way or call them stupid and then in the next paragraph of your post you said they were ignorant, basically because they disagreed with you. People here are highly opinionated and everyone has alot to say. Not everyone is going to agree with you all the time. Don't take it personally because they don't know you and have the right to their own opinion just as you do. Isn't political posts one of the big "do not do" topics. Stay away from such confrontational threads. You did, however turn my color thread into a rant about Stalin. It does not bother me and you made some interesting points.
My point is, well, I forgot my point.
Can't we all just get along?

Didn't you say you'd be off the forums in your other "ME" thread?

MCW
12-06-2003, 09:11 PM
yes, I did say that, but I thought I had cleared up the thing about me not being as good as Woody, since it appeared I have not, I decided to reconfirm it by starting another post. I was trying, it just kinda pushed over, Im sorry if that upset you.

I didn't read any of it but the first two lines.

So, just my $.02 -- You shutting up would make me happy.

I will not promote any of my skills or talents ...

yay!

Easy, Tak. When you get a concession, it's more civilized to withdraw and save your vitriol for a failure to live up to the concession. Opportunities for conversion should be explored before opportunities to get someone gone. There are idiots on the net, obviously, but when dealing with people it helps to start with the assumption that they are friends that need to be convinced rather than bugs that need to be squished.

(Five points to whoever nails that quote.)

Takara

I never said I was civilized. I save my vitriol for those which truly deserve it.

This is exactly why in the case where it’s unleashed, it's very poignant.

Keiran

I do the same, but I do try to save it as a very last resort, or for people that do something of overwhelming stupidity. MCW isn't overwhelming. But then I'm used to reading the B.net forums and keeping my temper in check, so I suppose the line I draw might be a bit further back than yours.

*grin* And my vitriol is pure bottled hatred and contempt. ;)

Edit: Eek!! A spelling mistake! I shall now commit ritual suicide! Or just fix it and leave a silly note. o_0

As DDDancer said, can't we all just get along? The statement has been retracted. So, in my opinion, now is the time to let it drop, unless and until it is un-retracted. Or whatever. Geez. Am I the only forgiving person left in the world....? *sulk*

(There's your drama.)

I'm thinking that everything just got off on the wrong foot, and now we should just start over.

--------

Or alternatively: If you haven't got anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.

Takara

How about we make it:

If you don't have anything intelligent to say, don't say anything at all.

I'm sorry? Are you now spewing your vitriol at me?

...

I fail to see what in my statement is not intelligent. Explain that to me. It is my personal viewpoint on life, that once someone has apologized, they should be given the benefit of the doubt until they have proven they won't change. Your veiwpoint apparently differs. Greatly.

I'm done now. Spew all you like.

Takara

I'm not spewing vitriol at you rimedragona.

I'm intolerant of ignorance which MCW has in spades.

okay, then. I'm sorry for getting my hackles up at you. /grovel

I must admit I think I missed a lot of what has happened... Or it didn't bother me to the extent it looks like it did you....

well atleast my last words wont be starting more conflicts, I will remain silent, I probably drift away from this forum.

I dont know how to put this any other way other than blunt. Don't say anything I have to defend myself against, and im off. Just let it fade away. No more negative comments about my ego or any of my other problems, and i will simply leave the forum.

Having a special thread is one thing where people are purposefully silly.

I started the Special Thread...

It’s an entirely different beast.

My tolerance for this kind of negativity has grown extremely thin.

I'm not requesting calm, patience, intelligence, and understanding... I'm demanding it.

K MCW i am gonna "forgive you" or something like that, but on the basis you dont promote (loads) your website in most posts, i dont mind the odd link, maybe in your sig is ok.

Im not a pro on the boards to say these kind of things but I think we should carry on as if MCW hadnt done all the things that got him/her (sorry dunno if ur a boy or girl, ur pic suggests girl) said, so lets just carry on as happy posters :D no grudges guys

I can't believe I'm going to do this but, here goes nothin'. I'll attempt to be as positive as possible.
In my opinion, MCW, you seem to start a thread whenever a random thought crosses your mind. Most of those threads are, what I see as "Look at me!" threads. To be perfectly honest, I wasn't really interested in hearing that you were going to be away, last weekend? I'll go out on a limb (and risk bending and Easy Way) by guessing that most of the folks that read the boards felt, pretty much, the same way. What's next? A "What I had for dinner" thread which compares your flatware to Woody's art?

For me, the fluff-to-quality ratio on your threads is tipped way over to the fluff side of the scale.
I've very much enjoyed the Dragon Contest and it seems that your Improving Cartoons thread has picked up a lot of interest, albiet some negative. But it's put a lot of good info out to the general readership. A bit of advice (and only my opinion): take a page from Cairin and Shrineerune's book. When you start a thread like that, just let it ride and thank those who put out good info. Try to resist the urge to comment (usually in the negative) on EVERY reply. So, that's 2 or three threads out of a dozen or so, that, IMO are actually worth reading.

Personally, I think the fluff, in general, was getting way out of hand, right before the board moved, but it seems to have stabilized. But I digress...

From your writing, you seem to be rather intelligent. From your posting, you don't seem to have much discretion. I don't know what your obsession with competing with or criticizing the comic or the art of the comic is, but, my friend, I believe you are steering into danger if you continue on that tack. (please pardon the nautical analogy! I just can't help it!)

This community has a lot of smart, witty and talented folks who have oodles of constructive and intelligent things to say. As you've already seen, that sword cuts both ways. Just try to find your nich instead of creating one and forcing it upon the commity at large.

Peace
