I'm not sure if this fits the topic. But I bought my self a Nerf Longshot for "office warfare." Love the bolt action system. Pretty good distance, though the accuracy has something to be desired. Could just be the darts i'm using, they tend to catch air and get squirrly mid-flight. I've looked up a few "more power more accuracy" mods for it. I'm considering putting a new spring in.

Also plan on painting it "Office-camo." Some nice beige and brown to blend in with the cubicles.

if only you could put some spin into the dart...that could help keep it on target...or weight it down but then they would most likely hurt someone...and more power is always better right!

Spin is a good idea. I wonder what would be a easy way to incorporate that. I'd have to grind a spiral into the barrel. Risky...

can you carve a spiral srip outa the bullet sides? trailing off towards the back so it keeps a solid base for the spring? maybe 3 vanes or valleys and that should be easier

I could try that. I wonder how deep I should go. Shouldn't need much.

For cutting into the bullets you could use a heated styrofoam cutter. You can get them at just about any hobbie shop (i.e. Micheals, HobbyLobby, etc.)

that would work, but the bullets for the long shot are kinda smallish.. a sharp hooby blade should be fine for those...just a couple of V cuts in a spiral pattern should do it, but a foam cutter with the wire bend into a V would be faster...

Okay. I tried it. But now the darts come out -okay- and then degrade into a flat spin. It's like they are catching a facing wind. I'm guessing more forward weight for this, but any one else have any idea?

yeah, flat spin means that they are pulling too much drag from the air...more weight will be needed...dont nuts, try a penny at a time...something is causing excess drag in the bolts slipstream...got a pic of your latest version? maybe that will help...but added weight will help it store more power in momentium to over come the drag...

For the size and current weight of the darts, I feel even a penny would be to much. I'll think of something, and if I have time/motivation I'll snap a few photos.
