only 4? you must be a hermit lol. Seriously though, it happens all the time, and for the most part it's all in good fun. Some people like to role-play their chars (insert dwarf here) and others just dont get enough flirting irl. If it bothers you, you can ask them to stop, and if they cross the line you can report them. Personally i just wear a wedding band, so i can brush them off in proper RP fashion. :)

I don't think they have wedding bands in FFXI, but thanks for the advice, never had that happen in anyother game before.

If I'm not mistaken, certain jewelry-made rings have the '[metal] [gem] wedding band' name. I know for a fact, though, that there are 'engagement ring's.

Oddly, Taerou was never hit on all through his (multi-year) life. Are Half-Elves unattractive? Or maybe because people only hit on female PCs?

[EDIT] Oh, you're talking about FFXI. Whoops. Disregard that first part...

If they're complete strangers proposing to you, then that's disturbing.. you can tell them that you never marry someone you don't know, that you two should at least date first. When they ask you for a date, refuse.

I don't have much experience with this...

I think Half-Elves must be unattractive. My bard never gets hit on.

Though, it could be the frequent use of profanity. Everyone's probably too afraid I'll train them (because I probably said "Stop $*&&$#@ the &#$&^$ or I'll &&$@#^ train your &#&^#@ you &^#$@ newbie!") to try anything.

So, you may want to start cursing like a sailor.

.. Though, when I did roleplay a 16 year old halfling (which basically equates to a seven year old in maturity and development) in Neverwinter Nights, I got hit on all the time. Freaks. It had to have been the fact that I wasn't cursing.

Yeah, I think it's pretty normal for PCs to get hit on, though I'd have to say it depends on the PC.

Half Elves unattractive????? *eyes widen* I love Half Elves! In fact, my paladin is hoping to marry a certain one. (Shamira's a High Elf and a redhead, so a moment when she isn't getting hit on is a rare one indeed.)

My warrior is also a Half Elf - a girl one. She doesn't get hit on quite as frequently as Shamira does, but still enough to drive me up the wall. (Sorry; she's seeing someone too.)

Both my wife and I (my male, her female) have avatars that get hit on. It seems to be the wood elves and drow the most, coming second would be my human SK and her human monk. How do I deal with it? *chuckles darkly* Roleplay is always up, so I tell them I'll kill them and devour their innards if they continue to bother me. Being evil helps. Alot.

It bothers me because in EQ, there really isn't that much character customization. I look exactly like the hojillion other high elf clerics out there, why'd you chose me to heckle with your juvenile pickup tactics?? I like getting compliments on my armor color combinations, though.

I flirt a bit with other EQ chars in my guild, but then again some of the ladies hit on me too. Must be my charm, my singing skills, or the mana regen.

I'm thinking the mana regen cause only the casters hit on me, melee's tend to ignore me.

My husband plays a female character because he didn't like male halfling modles when we created the characters. We decided our characters were sisters. We stayed in character a lot when we first started playing. About a year ago one of our guildmates was going through a rough spot, got drunk one night and started hitting on my husband's PC. We relized what was happening pretty quick, and thought it was pretty funny. There was much appologing the next day when he sobered up too. However, I've noticed that my husband doesn't stay in character much anymore.
