Just got EQ:OA:Frontiers today via UPS and I have to say... I love the upgrades they did! I'm not talking about the Class Masteries, or the increase level cap to 60 or anything like that... I'm talking about no more torso boy graphics for dwarves!
They fixed the dwarf models to look somewhat like the luclin dwarf models. The faces make us all look pretty grim, but I am liking it nonetheless... The old graphics had to go, and, lucky for me, they went. They changed up the graphics on all the models, not just the dwarf ones..
They also implimented extra grass sprigs (ala regular eq but much less laggy). The downside to this is it definitly feels like you're wading through the terrain. Someone in Tethalin DEFINITLY needs to get out the lawnmower or the shears and get to work... I don't know, maybe they fired the groundskeeper.
They made the water in rivers oceans and wells spray as if crashing up against the banks. This alone would've been neat, but I think they over-did things a bit. They also added fog to dungeons, dust in the air in the desert, and a naturish green haze around Tethalin (tree elf city). It looks kind of out of place there. Between the excess grass and the green fog it seems like Tethalin is being converted into a swamp.
Oooh, and they added new battle music to switch things up a bit. The battle music is something I've never heard before, but the old battle music (current normal eq battle music too) is now the racial music for Ogres on the character select screen. Kinda cheap there, but then again, most of the racial musics are pulled from the PoP zones. Dark Elves have PoTorment cultural music, Dwarves get Tactics cultural music, the Dwarf town Moradhim has PoStorms music, Elf town Tethalin has PoK music etc.
Overall this expansion really tipped the scales in my addiction to EQ:OA with some of the little nicities that they gave the game a makeover with.
