my upgraded pc and windows xp

I have a dell. the case sucked, I had to keep it open a little in orde rto fit the video card.

So I got a new case. Dell is proprietary so we needed a new motherboard. But because we got a new motherboard my windows xp needs to be reinstalled. I can't reinstall because I don't have the cd key.


Does anyone have some advice?

Do you still have the old case/motherboard arround? If so there are ways to get the CD key out of the operative system. You can just put the HD back on that old machine, go trough it, get the Key and write it down.

nevermind. i called microsoft and got a new number.

was going to say that Dell should have had a sticker of your product key on the side of the old case.
