I just was given my parent's old laptop, and trying to see what I can use it for, if anything ;) 'Tis a 266 with a wopping 32 megs of ram...So yes, solitare can run slow at times. Right now, it doesn't have much, just a CD drive basically (Sony VIAO, I belive, if that helps), and was wondering if it can run a DVD drive (Win 98 system, as well), or Wi-Fi or the like
Second question...Anyone know any games that would run on it that you'd reccomend? Worst case, will be fun for long drives/flights/ect.
Thanks!

Realistically, with only 32MB of RAM (which is probably shared with the video "card"), you'll be severely hurting just running the OS, so games less than about 9 years old are pretty much out of the question.
Personally, I'd wipe out Windows and load Linux on there. It's got a much smaller memory footprint so it doesn't gobble up 128MB of the 32MB on board like Windows does. Then, I'd only use it for word processing and maybe, *maybe* surfing. Even so, a browser like Firefox takes up almost as much memory as that system has total. You may be limited to a text-based browser like Lynx, but then you might get your door broken down by the police (http://www.boingboing.net/2005/01/27/jailed_for_using_a_n.html) who think you're a terrorist. ;P

I have an old NEC 233 mhz laptop with 32 megs of ram. It surprisingly doesn't run that bad.
I have windows 2k installed on it, use it to browse the internet without problem, and even play age of empires 2 on it without problem.

You should Dual boot DOS 6.22 and Windows '95. Load-up Office '97 so you can get your homework done and use DOS for Mechwarrior 2, Doom, and Warcraft. The thing will run like a greased chicken.
