With my month ending move, I need to find a new ISP as my old provider does not service my new location.
I am looking for something comparable to my old service http://www.sonic.net/
I want to avoid AOL and others of similar ilk. If anyone has some feedback or recommendations I would apprecaite it.

Honestly, which ISP to use depends.
Broadband or dialup? I can't give dialup recommendations. Dialup is cheap, and dying - the total Internet subscriber base in the US isn't growing very fast, and more people are going to broadband than getting dialup.
In broadband, you've got three general choices:
* Cable (fast, but monopoly providers, and not a lot of flexability in the services you get.)
* DSL (good speeds, mix of providers, small DSL providers can give excellent service, good variety of services available)
* Fixed Wireless (speeds/prices vary, availability limited by location)
www.dslreports.com is a good source for what broadband choices are in your area. And, more importantly - reviews on how good/bad the providers are at implementing their services.
If you want DSL, and they can provide services to you, I highly recommend Speakeasy. They did well by me, when I was a place where I could get them. I can't recommend my current provider, SBC - their customer service has been a nightmare. I wish I could get a different provider, but they are the only one who can supply the services I need.
