Need Help Finding a Great Spyware Remover & Blocker

I don't have alot of knowledge of any good spyware removers and such, and I'm trying to find some great ones that are free, or very cheap. I have a program on my computer called Spybot-Search and Destroy, but I'm not sure its any good, plus it never gets rid of a program (Wild Tangent I think it is) even though it says it did. Can someone please help me?
