Just a little something I wrote as a back round story to character I write about. Let me know what you think.

Someone’s Hero.

Raven Skylander growled and kicked the nearby wall in frustration. Though she had retrieved the trinket her client had wanted back, but the thief had gotten away. Raven almost had him, until he had looked at her with those eyes, those fear stricken eyes and begged. Well, not so much begged, he just said please…only once, but that was enough. Enough to have her vampiric self scolding her. At least her human self was happy. She kept herself from being that cold ruthless self once again, that monster that was lurking just skin deep. Now she had to deal with her to mentalities ‘arguing’ with each other. One of the joys of being a dhampire was that you were always at war with yourself.
Raven climbed a fire escape to the top of the apartment building, breathing in the rainy night air. She let her vampiric senses roam…when they suddenly picked up an interesting life force, a small one, and very weak. The life force was a few blocks north, straining her ears; Rave listened. A soft mewing came from the area, and, to Raven’s guess, was coming from the life form, a kitten, and a very weak one to.
Raven took off, leaping from roof to roof top, using her senses to find the tiny life. Finally, She stopped in a narrow alley, the mewing soft and weak. It took a moment, but Raven found source of the mewing, a garbage bag. Rave tore open the bag, to find the tiniest silver tabby kitten she had ever seen. The kitten mewed seeing Raven, it stumbled over…something to get to her. Picking up the kitten, Raven saw what it was the kitten had stumbled over. Other kittens, all dead, and from the looks of it, siblings of the silver tabby. It made Raven’s stomach turn at the sight. And the humans call us monsters…
“ Good evening….half breed.” Came a calm, yet oily voice. Turning, Raven saw a shabby looking man, a vampire, and a beast feeder.
“ Good evening yerself. And what do you want?”
“ That kitten. It’s half witch’s familiar…a rare blood indeed. I’ve been tracking it for six blocks.”
“ Well there are six other in that bag over there.”
“ I do not drink old blood!” The beast feeder growled, “ Give me that kitten or I’ll kill you.”
“ Well then, you’ll have to try to kill me then, won’t you?” Raven said, placing the kitten gently in an inner pocket of her jacket. The beast feeder roared, charging at Raven. Raven stepped to the side smoothly, and kicked him in the back as he passed. The beast feeder went flying into a wall, snarling he turned, and charged again. Once again Raven dodged him, but this time sinking a stake into his back.
“ Well that was far too easy.” Rave mused, the beast feeder turning to dust. Suddenly a smell hit her and she knew why. There were very few narcotics available to vampires, but this beast feeder had gotten his hands on one of the worst, Dragon’s Blood. Dragon’s Blood was just what the name implied, the blood of a dragon, sometimes mixed with special herbs and other things. Raven had been told feeding on dragon’s blood was like doing acid and heroine at the same time. It also had the same effects on the body. And from the smell, Raven guess that the beast feeder had been thoroughly addicted.
“ You okay in there?” Raven asked, opening her jacket, to look at the kitten. The kitten mewed in protest, as a fat raindrop landed on it head. Despite it’s soggy look, the kitten glared at Raven regally, causing her to chuckle.
“ I have the perfect name for you…that is if you are a boy.” Raven checked, while the kitten protested, and it indeed was a male. “ Rex, I’ll call you Rex.” Raven said, seeing the kitten’s stare she sighed, “ Yeah, I know, not original but I got to call you something. Not lets get home and get you something to eat.” Raven smiled, tucking Rex back into her pocket and walking out of the alley.

Very interesting. I won't comment on grammar punctuation or spelling, there I have little room to talk, but the story so far is nice.
Where and when is it set?
Are there a lot of wampires in this setting?

Set in Toronto...a few vamps here and there, along with other critters... Sorry about the grammar, used Mirco words and pasted it here...Shouldn't be anything wrong with the spelling.
