I wrote this several months ago. I was somewhat sleep-deprived after a nightful of hunting on the battlegrounds with some Hibernian friends. :)
Hope you enjoy! :) If not, please be gentle, I'm not an exceptional poet.

The Lurikeen
Sit here for a spell
And pick up some ale
I have a heck of a story to tell --
'Tis an interesting one of a wee Lurikeen
And a dangerous beast that fell.
Lala, a wee lass,
Stood barely knee-height
To most that wander this land
Concocted something rather foul one day
And gave her something strong to command.
Some veggies
Some spices
Pure water that came from the stream
Forget not one special addition:
--A handful or two of fresh beans.
:P
Lala jarred her bean soup
And left on the 'morn
Her daggers not sharpened
Her armor well-worn.
Onto the battlefield
A fierce 'bolg at the helm
A big group was forming quickly
Up in defense of their Realm.
The big group fought madly
The days ending sometimes badly
Inexperienced, and frankly, scared
And not to mention, ill-prepared.
Disheartened, disenchanted
They gloomily sat one 'eve;
Drearily 'round the fire
Many a sigh and a heave
Lala felt hopeless
'Twas a shame power they lacked
She sighed, and took the full jar
Of bean soup from her pack.
She offered some to her companions
Not knowing how they would scoff
The 'bolg nodded "No", the Druid had eaten
The twin Wardens went "Eww.", and the elf felt too beaten
So Lala ate alone
And finished the soup (was just right!)
Bidded the party 'Good-evenings'
And then took to sleep for the night.
The morning came fast
With a rumbling sound
One of a Lurikeen's belly
One of the heart of the ground.
The group all got ready
Surrounded by foes
Of Albion and Midgard
Many lives taken already in the tow..
The Firbolg growled and raised his axe
The Druid stood ready to heal,
The Wardens and elf, too, ready for battle
But Lala? Not nearly, she felt her fate sealed.
Things were fastly getting ugly
They all expected it would
But they shooed Lala off..
"It is for your own good!"
Lala got angry
But she understood
Her equipment was damaged, her new friends
would handle the battle, if they, at all, could...
In the midst of sadness
Her tummy rather in pain
What was then to happen
'Twas really amazing, how fate was then lain..
Lala just pushed a little
To the cramps, so she'd mend
And then came the beast
That arrived on the wind!
The Dwarf dropped his weapons,
The Inconnu got woozy,
The Norseman saw stars,
The Kobold "lay down to go snoozy.",
The Breton screamed,
The Ogre cried!
The Valkyn got violently sick!
The poor Troll didn't know whether to surrender or flee
But eventually, you bet he took his pick!
Drums of defeat from Midgard's Skaalds
Shook the ground, not in error..
The fearful horns of Albion blasted
As both of the Realms fled in terror!
The group of Hibernians
were all shocked, nothing like that ever seen..
The 'bolg, twin Wardens, and Druid and Elf
All stared down at the confused -- Lurikeen.
The Druid just blinked,
like the Enchanters and elf..
The 'bolg said, "I'm embarrassed!"
"I couldn't pull one like that off myself!"
Well, our story has ended
You've learned much now, I bet!
Think it all over
I promise, you won't regret!
One tiny Lurikeen
In an unexpected (and unorthodox) way
Quite defied all the normals,
The wee one had just saved the day!
Like Lala had done here
She's showed you all --
Great things can truely come
in unexpected packages quite small. ~ :D
Hope you enjoy! :) If not, please be gentle, I'm not an exceptional poet.
