As my summer draws to a close (college reopens August 29th), I find myself looking back on my three months off from classes. As I do this, I realize that, frankly, my summer was almost an entire waste of valuable time. Basically all I did each day was lounge around the house, scoping forums, reading webcomics, and playing KOTOR or Warcraft III. Sure, I took a week long sailing trip with some family, but that's one freakin week out of, what, eleven? I could have been writing more (I actually had plans to start this long chapter story, never even wrote the first part :? ), reading more, hell even exercise(I have a rower and a bicycle in the garage, so it's not too hard for me to exercise, the stuff's all there)! It makes me feel a tad depressed and regretful that I trashed this time so.
So, now that I've vented/ranted, how does everyone else feel about how they spent their summer? (this is, of course, assuming you had the time off. If you work on a regular basis, most likely nothing was different :) )

at my age, and doing what I do, without kids yet, summer is simply a time when it gets hot outside. Now, FALL matters to me, because that's when my greatest addiction, Ren Faire, is :D

I actually felt my summer was very rewarding. I worked a job I really enjoyed, taught some kids some engrish, and made some new friends. When they went back to Taiwan it was a bit slow but I still kept up with my music etc. so I feel I had a very good summer.

Hey, I may not be in school but I do different things over the summer. Like avoid going outside as much as possible. Those 110+ degree days kick my butt :D
Um, other than that... nope, nothing different!

HAH funny, I didn't even get a summer. School and work = no summer.

Worked a lot, but had one week off. Usually your entitled to four weeks of vacation during the summer over here. Students in school (under college) gets two months off, those bastards.
So. Lots of work, but I did get to lower my body into a lake now and then. Now I'm just looking forward to winter. That's really my time, when I can take my carving skiis and head up to the mountain and just enjoy the snow. The summer is good, but I think winter is better. It gets a little dark here, but you just got to love the snow.
There is nothing quite like throwing yourself down a steep mountainside, going as fast as a car, with two sticks on your feet and two sticks in your hands!

*Raises his hand.*
Of course, I'm afraid I'm in the same boat as Breandan, save for the fact there is no ren faire in Korea...at least none that I know of.
I spent my summer evenings training, going for a run, martial arts etc. During the day I was at work.
But when I was at college, I'd spend most of my days playing eq, and training in the evenings for it was just too hot to do anything during the day.
To sum up: during the day, staying as cool as possible at work or at home, evenings training.
Can get fitter and get a nice tan for the ladies :D

I spent my summer writing, gaming, and making new recipes. I also visited Florida and my g-parents.
All in all, I could have done more stuff, but hey, I'm still a kid, and I'm gonna enjoy that lack of responsibiility while it lasts.

Summer was pretty good for me. Besides a few downers, I got to finally run my Mage: 1920's Chicago game (a game which I made 2 years prior and never thought I'd play) and play other RPGs like a fiend. Plus, I got to hang out with a lot of friends. All in all, not the most productive Summer but was a lot of fun nonetheless.

During the first 3.5 weeks of my summer I was unemployed. So during that time I did odd jobs around the house, played video games, and looked for jobs. Then at the midpoint of the 4th week I was picked up by an engineering firm about 40 mins from my house...DARN YOU GAS PRICES...and I started the job by spending 9 to 10 hours of the day outside doing GPS surveys. Got burnt, then tan.
After doing the GPS survey for about 6 weeks, I went into the office where I am preparing all sorts of documents and the like. Mainly assisting the boss prepare proposals for projects (i.e. He tells me what he wants, then I do it.) Also on the weekends I helped on the renovations for my apartment/house, and also helped the in-laws with their repairs to their rentals house. And in the midst of all that I was able to level my rogue up to level 60...oh and celebrated my 1 year anniversary with my wife :). Dang...that's a lot...and school starts this tuesday...OH NOES!!!

I spent a good majority of the summer not working. Stayed home with the kids and did ALOT of work on my house.
Have repainted almost every room (all but 1) inside, new siding, gutters, and roof outside.
Next year LANDSCAPING!!! I know literally nothing about gardening except I can't grow flowers outside of my house except some tiger lily thingys. But hopefully next year that will be remedied.

Spent the summer swimming with my kids, drawing again (got myself a sketchbook....haven't had one for about ten years.) doing some cross stitch, and at times dealing with my ex and custoday issues.
All in all....whoa...

Ah, for the olde days when summer meant something like... last year, for example, when I was an unemployed layabout. Got over to see Shan (and the uncomfortably hot weather) at the end of June, though, so that's a good thing.
Other than that, work, work, videogames, work, promotion, work. And some more games.
