okay I'm putting an explination here to get one thing clear, yes this is about Katrina, yes this is a poetic "people are stupid rant" and this is what i heard/saw so the information isn't all accurate, and yes i know some had to stay behind not because they where fools but curcimstances wouldn't allow for it, and i hope and pray those in that delima got out alright/survived to be rescued. I'm just sick of people saying "it is not enough, and should've, would've, could've, if only... truth is i can't see where anything said or done would be enough... just gotta do what we can and hope.
Nothing That Bad…
200 years ago the Natives warned them…
If they should settle here there is something they must know…
It isn’t the safest place to be…
Because it sits below the sea…
This place is decent… this place is great…
As for the warning we’ll just put levies in place…
And so they built and made New Orleans their home…
And after a few years convinced themselves…
Nothing bad will happen here.
More years passed and everything fine…
Then one day a storm raged the line…
Streets got flooded, some buildings destroyed…
This must be the worst what can be deployed?
So strengthen the levies add in some pumps…
Worst that can happen now is something not that much…
Still years later when weather tracking is strong…
A weatherman looked and all he would say is oh shit dam this day…
We’ll call her Katrina and she is strong…
This might be trouble, New Orleans might be gone!
The Mayor said lets pack our bags…
The sheriff said get your asses out…
And for the few who can’t well, the Super Dome might hold…
For the fools that stay heed the warning to be true…
A Cat 5 is heading your way…
The Surfers said this is great…
Look at all the waves…
And some swimmers stood in aw as they crashed above the levies range…
It isn’t that much, in fact it is cool…
Nothing too bad will happen, says some of the fools.
Well, Katrina came, and very little stood in the wake…
She gave made sure the Super Doom knew that she was great…
But spared it from death…
Some say storms humor things like that…
She broke the levies and flooded the streets…
Moved New Orleans around like a tiny toy town…
Then like a shadow at dusk…
Faded slowly away with a rumbling sound…
New Orleans is no more…
Many are homeless…
Quite a few dead…
To go back 200 years to a warning not heeded…
In ignorance said…
Nothing too bad will happen… but it did...
And now all to be said…
It is simple and plain…
What fools are we…
But there must be someone else to blame…
