This is a short review of Blood Rayne 2 for the PC w/o gamepad. The reason for this will become evident later in the review.
First let me mention the violence level in this game is frankly quite high and the gore as well. This will not be a shocker to anyone familiar with the series but to those new to it I felt it was needed. There is a lot of suggestive situations but no sexual ones nor real nudity though numerous panty shots. The art is fairly good throughout though a bit dark in some areas.
Mechanically this game has 2 issues that bothered me.
A) Game was designed to play with a gamepad/controller not a mouse keyboard. This shows in some levels with acrobatic combos being a little harder and combat. The attack combos and Harpoon use is more difficult than it would be with the controller. This was a minor annoyance overcome with training and practice but I would reload the first level and spend a bit of time getting to know the harpoon, you'll use it a great deal.
b) The camera controls. These are fixed and can be an issue when in tight spaces and can cause a few missteps.
Other than that this is basically a fairly reasonable if not terribly inspired fps style horror game. I recommend it if you can find it for $25.00 or so but not for much more cash.
