I had a wonderful, wonderful dog who was with me for 13 years. He was part Chow, part German Shepherd and part wolf. I got him when he was just six weeks old, and even though he grew to over 100 pounds, he always thought he was a lap-dog for me. He even saved my life at one point.
My husband worked nights, and at the time we were living in a rather bad area of Dallas. One night, about 15 minutes after my hubby had left for work, I heard someone at the front door. I thought it was just hubby coming back for something he forgot, but my furry baby knew it wasn't. He charged into the front room and started throwing himself against the front door barking his deep, loud bark. I heard the screen door slam, and footsteps running off. I'm sure he saved me from something horrible that night.
Unfortunately, last summer he had a stroke. We rushed him to the vet who gave him some medicine and he seemed to be doing better, but then two days later he had another stroke, and this one was much worse. He was in constant pain, and the vet said there was nothing he could do at that point but put him out of his pain. I still miss him terribly.

Used to have two Old English Sheepdogs when I was growing up. One of them, Yogi, used to carry me around in her mouth when I was a baby, and used to lie outside my door so noone could come in and hurt me. Wasn't the funnest thing in the world to come down one morning to her not movng...
But, looking to the future, my girl already has a parrot (which wants to kill me), and we're gonna get some rats. I dunno why, but I'm really looking forward to owning rats.

I used to have a dog, just a mutt, who was just great, she was a present from ' Santa' and when my mom went to go pick out the puppy 'Santa' would bring us, my dog, Sarah, crawled into her lap. She did alot of thinto protect meand my sister. She bit a doberman in the privates, ate a wasp, bit a bully who was kicking my older sister in the ass. she lived until she was about 12, at which she got cancer and despite us giving her the best medication we could afford, she was not enjoying life, so we decided to put her to sleep. I mourned more that dog more then any human being.
But other then her, my pets have ranged from bugies, to rats, to my current threesome, two orange tabbies and a wired haired/long haired dachund, all three male.

Our dog, River (http://www3.telus.net/public/avince/Steph/Riversmall.jpg). She's half Golden Retriever, half Australian Shepherd. Sadly, she got the Retriever brain (but also the Retriever uber-loyalty and friendliness, so it evens out). So she's very sweet but dumb as a bag of rocks. We lover her to death, she's our "dumb blonde", lol. (no offense, I mean it in a very endearing way)

Had a Jack Russell called Titch for many many years. She was devoted to me, so much so that even if another member of the family rose their voice to me, she'd start barking at them.
One day, she got out the front door, where our neightbour was running their Afghan up and down the street. Titch rushed out and basically rugby tackled the Afghan by the throat and pinned it down (picture the size difference).
Other neightbours saw, and laughed so much, given the size. No damage was done, was more of a warning "This is *my* territory".
Unfortunately, we had to let her go to sleep, as she started turning on the family. When she finally made a snap at me, my dad took her to the vet. There was nothing that could be done apparently, due to a strange illness or something Jack Russells get.
I cried for months :(
Now have a tabby cat called Tigger, who I've had for 15-16 years now. She's dopey as hell. Has *no* balance (she's tried jumping onto table, misjudged the distance and had the front 2 paws only on the table, with the back two scrambling to get on, then ending up falling backwards off the table). Funny as hell, but love her to bits.

this (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v205/Wooleen/DSCF0029.jpg) is my puppy Woolfy (I swear he isn't dead, we found em asleep like this) he's a cross between a German Shepard and a Rottie - he's a sweetie, very playful and energetic. and he's about 2-3 years old )

I used to have a dog named Princess (hey, I was 2 when we got her, originality wasn't my thing just yet). Not entirely sure what breed she was (I tended to say that she was a pure-bred bastard), but she was definitely smart and one of the kindest dogs I've ever seen. She'd rarely if ever bark (unless we were playing with her) and, even if she did, like when a stranger would walk on our lawn or something, she'd look back at us with a guilty look in her eyes. This also made it easy to know if she had done something bad while we were gone during the day, because she'd always look guilty whenever we'd walk back into the house.
We never had to put her on a leash either when we put her outside. Most of the time she knew full well the limits of our yard, even though it wasn't even fenced. As her last two years though, she had taken a habit of wandering off from time to time. It wasn't a common occurance, but it always threw us for a loop whenever she did it. And, of course, she knew that she had done something wrong when she got back.
She was also super active until the day she passed away. Even in her last days, she was always happy to go out for walks and ran around the open field like any other young dog would. Only about two days before she passed away did she finally show major signs of aging until the night where she just couldn't go down the stairs anymore to go outside, and collapsed.
I still miss her these days. It may sound weird, but there are still days when I have to remind myself that I'm not going to greeted by her when I'm going to open the door to my home, even though I don't live anywhere near where we lived when she passed away.

I have 3 cats. Azrial, Gracie McFatButt & Elvis. Gracie & Elvis belong to my roommate but I have informed her I will be catnapping them when I move home to San Diego next month. Paws the Loud is staying in Seattle with my ex because she's really his cat and he loves her way too much to give her up.

I've got two pups. Dee Dee and Twinkie. Dee Dee is actually my mom's Poodle. Twinkie is my shi-tzu (she's my avatar). Twinkie, is dumb as a box of rock but oh so cute. the only one up on the internet is my avatar of twinkie, i'll see what i can do with my other pics and get them posted.
I have a very daft, yet incredibly lovable Alsation. She's also very protective, and outfits her duty as a guard dog to the house very effectively. She's also stupidly playful, and just so bloody cute!
In my eyes, her daftness just makes her even more lovable!
I got her when I was in my very early teens when she was a pup. Had problems with the pecking order in the family, but I put her in her place. So we effectively grew up together. She has an outstanding tolerance to me. She'll growl playfully, showing me her teeth one moment, and then pouncing around with her tail flapping about another. She wont do that with anyone else. :)
She's getting old now though :(

<<this is my baby, Tank. Brean and I also have three other cats. A Russian blue named Bear, and known for knocking the snot out of things at least 5x her size. Her grandkitten, Smudge aka Her Royal Whininess. Then there is Miss T, who at one time was so feral no one could touch her, now she won't even go outside. She is Tank's adopted mommy cat.
That's the cats, we also have my incredibly sweet loving tolerantabsolutely adorable pit mix Sage. I have had this dog since I was 19. for the longest time Sage was my best friend I will miss her sorely when she passes

Oh! /facepalm, I forget about Sherman (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y115/Kallysti/Shake.jpg) sometimes. He's my boyfriend's folks' dog. He's the goofiest-looking, sweetest tempered thing ever... no one can meet Sherman (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y115/Kallysti/BellyRub.jpg) (named after the tank) and not smile. He's half German shepherd, half Basset hound. He's 90 lbs. and his legs are literally only a couple inches long, they don't reach the end of his nose when he stretches out, lol. (For scale, I'm not a real big or real small sized girl: 5'4" 130lb. - that's me in those pics with him)

Heh... I don't think I've ever seen a dog that big with such little legs before.
Anyway, I think I'll put a few pictures up too...
Spot (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v168/tdmccormack/Pets/Picture_001.jpg)
Belle (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v168/tdmccormack/Pets/hungrybelle.jpg)... we were taking pictures of her looking at us hungrily (she looked so cute doing it), until she finally gave up and helped herself.
Spot and Belle (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v168/tdmccormack/Pets/bellespot.jpg)... it's rare to see them at peace like this.
Spot (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v168/tdmccormack/other/DSCF0052.jpg)... didn't even occur to him that he might not fit.
And last, another of Belle (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v168/tdmccormack/other/DSCF0045.jpg).

I've had many dogs, and a few cats, over the years. Current dog is a lab mix named bear. Some call him easy-going, I call him lazy. He has a good excuse though; about four years ago he was diagnosed with hip displasia(sp?) and is as a result, not very active. Then again, he was fairly sedentary before that too, though I used to be able to get him to play when I could make him see I wouldn't leave him alone until he did. :)
He's been staying with my folks since I enlisted (ps: Mom thinks he's Her dog...) and I miss him greatly. I do make a point of spending time with him when I go home on leave though.
