Just for reference, the armour on the stand is a shirt of maille that is my recently-completed fighting hauberk for AEMMA-derived fighting styles. Unfortunately, due to the nature of AEMMA and derived fighting styles, heavier armour is mandatory, which I am still working on as we speak. So, till I finish the whole set, it sits on the stand looking pretty in my den :-)

Heavier armor, all things considered, would be a good thing. I would be tempted to roll up in a tank with the gun barrel replaced by whatever weapon was needed at the time. I bruise...

So...steel maille is better than titanium?
I've been working with both...I'd always thought lighter was better; less encumberance and a' tha'.

titanium is too expensive and too brittle. Yes, it's light, and yes, it's hard, but it's brittle and can be sheared through as a result.

So...good for costume, bad for actual armour. Got it.
Making a coif for Isabella right now. Afraid spring steel would be too heavy for her little head.
