So, I saw it tonight, and damn, much better than I expected.

The acting was well done, the story-line was great, even better than DOOM3's storyline (kinda strange eh?) and the action was wonderful. Definatly a must see for all.

I liked it a lot but the only thing I didn't like was that they usedgenetics to explain the monsters, not that it was a gateway to hell that these demons came into.... suppose realism over ruled the ability to imagine things in todays world

I went into Doom expecying to see a movie 'based on the theme of Doom the game' and not really expecting to see anything short of just alot of gore and silly action. However what I did get, was a nice surprise that kind of made Doom and way altered version of the game, but still, very nice fun. The movie is what you can expect from you average sci-fi thriller, and delivers all the essential elements any movie like this should give, even giving you a nice plot twist that was delightful at the end. My rating fo the movie would be a 6/10, being, not half bad, but there are other, much better movies out there to enjoy.

And now for my spoiler ranting.

I knew from the begining that the movie would be 'based on' and not take Dooms storyline straight to the movie. However it really was more like, a cross of aliens meets dawn of the dead. I did not much like how they changed the story of Doom around so much to make it completely sci-fi and not paranormal. In here they explain how people became super-human with genetics, when in the real story of Doom, the problem was opening up a portal to Hell and demons coming into our world. I think the movie could have leaned much more towards the suspense side then the action if they would have cut out fewer characters and made the Demons, truly demons and give them all their abilities they had in the game. The ending twist with Sarge turning pyschotic was an excellent touch to the movie, however I found the end-fight very dull to me, I would have been much happier with the old, fighting satan with chainsaw ending, but, have to go where the money tells you to I suppose.

This movie has the best death of any action movie I've seen in a long time.

Comitting suicide by headbutting a bulletproof glass window? That's hardcore.

It wasn't bad, but honestly, while The Rock may have had the build for Sarge, he simply did NOT have the voice of a marine sargeant. While they may not all be whats-his-name from Full Metal Jacket, I expected something more.

I did enjoy watching it for the lady who played The Reaper's sister, though. *whistles innocently*

Saw the movie over the weekend and was actually much better than I anticipated. Actually expected to just MST3K it mostly. They did a good job of keeping the suspense up.
The whole gateway to hell plot is so contrived and trite I am glad they did not use it. (Event Horizon *blech* )

So hated this movie, there aren't even words for how much I hated it, I'll be hating it for years to come I think.

The only part of the movie that I liked was watching the BFG fire.

(The sad part is that it was much better than I expected.)

I liked it tremendously.

I don't personally understand how anyone can watch this movie in the theatres and hate it. I mean, c'mon.. It's a movie based off of the video game, "Doom" for Heaven's sake! You can't expect much of a plot from a movie like this.

Also, I thought the Rock did an awesome job at Sarge. I'm glad he chose to play Sarge instead of Reaper.

Being a Marine myself, the 24/7 angry voice goes away after boot camp. And I would especially expect something a little more subtle-themed for the commander of a SpecOps team, anyways.

I personally would rank this as one of the worst movies I ever sat through. We all have different tastes. I also though am the type who doesnt care for action movies that are without substance.

I expected it to be bad, because its a game picturization and it was exactly how I espected it to be. I did enjoy the part where you see through the eyes of the good guy, was funny. The unneeded "The Rock wrestling session" was dull imo.

Only just managed to see this film, and I actually quite liked it.
I would have preferred if they had stuck to the 'portal to hell' plot, as it's got more potential to deliver shocks and is actually more original than the tired old 'genetic experiment gone wrong' theme.
But it was better than I thought it would be.
What Rock wrestling session was this, though?

The Rock going crazy (him turning crazy was good though) and then fighting with the protagonist in "wrestling style"

Oh that bit.
It didn't really register in my head as being a wrestling thing, I watch a lot action movies, but don't watch wrestling, so it just registered in my head as an action sequence O.O
