So with my wife about to pop, my mother in law has arrived in town, and it took me all of 10 minutes before wanting to disappear. Imagine a person who suffers from low self esteem, PTSD, migraines, and is a hypochondriac to boot. And she's terminally chatty...annoyingly chatty...homicidally chatty.

volunteer for extra shifts at work- it gets you out of the house, and you have extra money for the wee one ;-)
Barring that, kill things in video games....

My mom came to your house?! Good luck and good luck with the coming baby - tell the MIL that you can't make the baby come with her around all the time because you feel uncomfortable having sex with her around so much. :)

Why is it that they take strays at the pound, but not mother in laws?

Well, Bob...they used to, but the employees kept getting mauled.

Actually, no maulings: The sheer fact that they never shut up caused hemoriges to form in some employees heads.
...Maulings were a secondary concern.

So, five days of meddling drama later, I'm going to have to drive her home. Joy. Two hours there, two hours back. At this piont, she'll be lucky if she makes it there.
edit: Yay for reconciliation. Now I get some sleep.

My mother-in-law came over every day for two weeks after Lily was born. She cooked, did my laundry, and cleaned. I couldn't have cared less about what came out of her mouth for the sheer amount of work that she relieved me from. My husband was quite ready for her to start staying home, though. :D

I live less than 3 miles from my in-laws. To make it worse my mother-in-law cannot stand me. No particular reason why (I assume it's the old "Not good enough for my boy" thing).
She is civil towards me and treats my kids as though they are little princesses, offers free babysitting at any hour day or night and doesn't impose herself even though she lives so close, so all in all, I don't complain a bit.
Although, I would love to hear my husband suggest we move a bit further away once we finish remodeling our house and put it up for sale!! (nice dream but will never happen)

I finally met the potential in-laws. Wow. I think that her mom wants me to convert to being Mormon, so I can marry their other daughter too
