Enders Game.. Check it out.. It is a very good Sci-Fi book.
But right now i am recommending people check out Eragon and Elder the first two books of the Inheritance trilogy by Christopher Paolini. Good stories, visuals and easy reads. Kind of Potteresque in the easy read type. He has a website up http://www.alagaesia.com
<Tangent: Now we have books, movies, games, where do we put tv and music? :)

Enders Game rocked me hard. Easily one of my all time favorites.

I also loved that book. I've been thinking about reading "Ender's Shadow" but haven't set aside the time yet. Maybe over the summer.
On a similar note, I recently read one of the "Halo" books, the first one called "The Fall of Reach" and was pretty impressed with it. If you like the Halo games then you'll probably like the book. It is sort of similar to Ender's Game in that it follows the story of Master Chief from when he was a boy to the point where he becomes a squad leader and yada yada. It was also kind of nice to read because it uses the weapons from the game. If I were to read a military story about our day, I would have no idea of the difference between an M-16 and an M-20, but having played Halo I have a pretty good grasp of the difference between a plasma pistol and a plasma rifle and the strengths and weaknesses of each. That in itself made the book pretty interesting.
Either way, "Halo: The Fall of Reach."

I can't say I have one favorite book as there are so many I like.
Anything by Terry Pratchett would definitly be high on the list though.
