I hated this game. I very rarely truly dislike a game, I understand it isnt always going to suit my likes. But I really truly hate this game. I will give four reasons:
I. The graphics were beautiful but I felt the overall textures and lighting effects detracted from the environment.
II. The controls, particularily on the Horse were atrocious, I understand the Protagonist is not supposed to be a super athlete...but why does he run like he has something wedged between his legs? I spent 15 minutes just trying to get the little bugger to make an easy jump...and every time he fell I had to swim for a minute to get back to the ramp.
III. I love the idea of Colossi, that each challenge is to climb and slay a Titan which is incredible to look upon...but whoever decided that the player should have to kill 16 of them needs to be bludgeoned to death with a frozen woodchuck.
IV. The game is inherently epic...but incredibly boring once you get past the first five or so Colossi, the first few challenges are interesting and require strategic thought...after that they get VERY redundant. Let alone the fact that every time its Appear at Temple, Get new Clue, run across sparse and empty lands,(another big problem, why are there no more animals than lizards, eels, and the occasional Hawk?). Find Colossi, kill Colossi, return to temple, rinse, wax, wipe, repeat.
V. And finally the Colossi themselves are challenging fundamentally but to be completely honest half of the "puzzles" involved are completely ridiculous for example:
The Hammer Titan, in order to climb him you have to break his bracelet...a fact it doesnt tell you. In order to do so you must make him strike at you while you stand on a metal disk in an otherwise featureless platform...and the disk is in the ground and very nearly the same color as the platform. You must then get him to strike again, then run up his hammer...however if you are too close it knocks you to the ground, and to far you cant return in time. In both regards preventing you.
In final consideration I give it a 3/10...and thats only because it looks pretty and I didnt buy it so I dont feel like I've been racial slur removed out of 50 bucks.
