Ahh.. the crude comedy of last year.
A few years ago, we had Shallow Hal. The comedy that 'made fun' of fat people. And everyone thought that until they actually seen the movie, and found out that it had a deeper, good, meaning.
That is exactly what The Ringer is. At first, it looks like a movie that makes fun of the Special Olympics by having Johnny Knoxville (with the help of his crazed uncle) throw the Olympics to make up money that he needs to repair his gardeners hand. But, once you sit down and watch it, not only is it funny, but it has a really good heartfelt story behind it. It's Super Troopers meets Rain Man.
If any of you liked those two movies, see The Ringer.
As a comedy, I give it 8.5 out of 10. I laughed, almost cried, and in the end, smiled with joy.
