The latest entry into the ever-awesome Mario Kart series, this one ditches the Two-Player-Per-Cart format from the previous entry in the series for a more traditional style.
Now, at first, the concept of a Kart game on the DS sounds...Confusing. But I am VERY happy to say that the systems touch-screen is used how most lazy developers use it: Its a map in-game, and the rest of the time its used for menus. Also, you can use it to design a little graphic for your kart. This may not sound like much, but its still rather cool, espically if you're really good with Pixilated art.
Now for the big draw to the game: The online multi-player. You can have up to eight people playing on ONE card, so if you're cheap and an owner of a DS, this is very good news for you. While previous games on the DS have only used Blue Tooth connectivity (meaning they had to be in 30 yards for you to play), Mario Kart finally uses the DS' promised Wi-Fi feature. And my entire time playing, I did not have a single incident of LAG and never got dropped. Strangely, you can't converse with people in-game. So, sorry, no trash-talking the annoying guy in Toronto playing with Yoshi.
My mayjor issue with the game is this: ITS EFFIN' CHEAP! You can be in first place, and out of nowhere a Blue Shell will hit you, and BAM! You're in last place! While stuff like this is expected in these kind of games, it happens so much in the game that you just feel...Cheated after a while.
This is a definate must-own for all DS owners. Don't own a DS yet? Get one! Because there is nothing better than shrinking your freinds and running them over in brightly-colored cars!
Over-all Score: 4.5/5
