I just bought the DVD and saw it.

Everyone has been telling me about this "crazy russian roulette scene" that I just had to see. And yes, the russian roulette scene in the jungle, was quite intense. When they:

...managed to escape by gunning the vietnamese down

...I clapped my hands like a little school-girl in pure joy. Sweet justice.

Other than that, I think the movie was nothing special. It was too long-drawn, that wedding scene could have been cut in half, and I think it had a lot of missed opportunities at being a much better movie. I love Robert De Niro and Christopher Walken, so they definetly made the movie better, but this is far from "one of the best movies in history", as many tend to say it is.

I like long movies, but this one could easily have been cut in half, even without compromising the plot at all.

I give it 2/3 out of 6.

The Russian Roulette scene that made me sick to my stomach was the one at the end, in the back room of the bar, Erling...not the one in the Jungle.

De Niro's reaction was perfect, and wholly captured the abject horror and despair of the situation.

I'd give it 5 out of 6, simply for its success in capturing small town america and the direct effect Vietnam had on it.

The acting was definetly very, very good. But that is to be expected from two guys like De Niro and Walken.

Ack, after Nick blows his brains out I couldn't speak. I literally wanted to speak and couldn't, like my tounge was made of lead. Also, the scene in the jungle had me clenching my hand so tight my nails broke the skin.

However, I agree completely that it was very drawn out overall and most of the wedding should have been scrapped.

Get's a 7/10 for me if not solely for the Russian Roulette scenes.
