what to say on RF online, well first off. Hello again all joo people in human land. The drunkan oger is back, Joos miss mes? Guess not, back to point at hand.
RF is an inventive form of an mmorpg, sorta like Planet side in the fact there is a three way war going on for on planet. Yet it mixs mechs, guns, and rocket launchers with Swords, magic, and monsters. Now That said it's a strait pvp game, so if your not one of those people that can handel pkers then this game is maybe not for you.
The good: First off I will say you have three very interesting races, the ballations which are like hobits. Hobits on crack, with big guns and mechs. The Corans which are like elves, elves that wear to much leather, and love to summon big monsters to fight for um. Lastly you have the Accretions, big robot people, look like they kinda stepped out of a gundam wing episode. With rocket launchers.
All three races have one thing to their race that the others don't. So you have a bit of balancing there. The mouse pointer if ancored to the head, so where your cursor goes the head follows. Quests also help your faction out to some small extent.
Lastly there is a zone for mining ores used in making stuff, which all three sides fight for control over. The side who holds the mine can go to the bottom of it where the Holymetal Keeper (mobius hugantimus in the latin) sits and will protect you. This guy is a one hit wonder, taking out lvl 30's in one blow and has a large agro range. Having him on yourside if a major plus.
Now the bad: Exp is off of the swing, not the kill, so it is possible for someone to run up and steal some of your exp. Kills count off of the killing blow, so the rangers can and sometimes do turn into kill stealing machines. Not only does this allow them to steal your loot, but also your kills for a quest. Why would they do this you ask? Simple lack of mobs, now when the game launches the servers should not be as congested as they are on beta now. If the servers stay this congested leveling is going to become hard.
This last hit gets kill becomes worse when in a group, since it gives the kill to the person who kills it, not the group as a whole. So you see groups lvling have to run away from the mob so the person who is up can get the kill.
The game also plays socrates, that is to say makes the week argument the strong one. For the Accretion and the Balatian their heavy hiters in pvp are the specialist. The class with the lest hp and mana, so they have the hardest time leveling but at lvl 30 they can class out to get the good toys.
Not to complain but they are also the merchant class, the only class able to make weapons and armor out of ore. When the game lanuches this will be a major asset to them. So I have to wonder how the class made to make money, also gets to be the class with the most powerful weapons at their command.
Thats my opinion of the game, the pros and the cons. As always I have only told you what I have seen, it is up to you to pick the road you wish to take. This is Shadarlog signing off from the blood stained battle feilds of rising force online.
