Hmmm, it has Queen Latifah in it. I think she's overused as an actress.

I just saw Ice Age again, and own it. Great flick. Scratch is my hero. I enjoyed the extras ont he DVD, like How John Can'tspellhislastname got the voice for the sloth.

I am looking forward to it. Queen Latifah should be ok, she has done voice overs before, and even car commercials. I always wonder though, why would you pay millions to a movie like this when you wouldn't need another "named" voice.

I came back from this movie. For me, the best parts were already shown in the commercials. The story I found was a bit thin.

On a aside, the megaplex that I was at was under lock down while the police tried disperse a crowd of youths. Apparantly, the film ATL had a few fights break out in the audience. We were outside waiting in line for Ice Age 2. A police officers had us move inside telling us they wanted us "out of the line of fire". Not that we didn't appreciate what he was doing, but my wife and I were wondering how safe it was being on the otherside of glass doors.

In most cases with childrens films big named actors dont make the money that is normally spent on aquiring them. Many times the A-listers want to make something for thier kids too and that is the motivation to sign up for the project.. not for the money.

Look at all the a-listers that make indepentants. they dont get paid squat...yet they often believe in the movie and want to get it made. Not all big actors are in it for the money, some really are artists.

Can't say it for queen Latifah, but you also just have to consider how big of a disaster that taxi movie flop was as well.

Unfortunately I agree with you. The first Ice Age was quite a bit better, and had a decent storyline. I liked the second one, but it just wasn't as good as the first in my opinion.

i agree with cobble as well, the plot wasnt the greatest. the villian was, a little unbelievable. i liked iego's fear of water issue, tht was just too dammn funny,, and they finally fully utilized the running gag

Aw I liked this movie, it was cute. Poor Manny thinking he was the only one left. I can't say I like Latifa in the role, can't really say who I would have liked but it was still cute and my son loved it.

So *neah* *pbbt* it was cute.

Latifah was mis-cast as the voice of Ellie, and I didn't like the vultures musical number or the scene after Crash hit the tree.
The whole Manny/Ellie love storyline was just annoying to me, because it was impossible to sympathise with or like the character of Ellie very much. What did Manny see in her?
Continuity suffered a bit, exactly the same way as in Robots, such as Manny and Diego being to get from the bottom of the valley to the top of the Eviscerator in no time at all, with no path upwards in clear evidence. That struck me as a 'well, the kids won't notice it' moment.
That being said, while not as good as the first film, it did have it's moments, and was worth seeing just for Scrat alone.
I saw it twice, as my sister wanted to see it so I went to keep her company, and it did grow on me a bit, I liked it better second time around.

I agree about the Ellie character, and not to be overly cynical but I think they just put her in because of a lack of female characters in the first one. As in real life, it screwed up the "buddy" dynamic of the three male characters. In a way it reminded me of The Lion King when Simba met Naala for the first time and Timon and Pumbaa suddenly became less important lol... art imitating life I guess.
