I have noticed that on my character selection screen in EQ2, my characters armors are very shiny however in game they are not. I thought it was because I turned off bump mapping (setting the level to -1) but turning it on still didn’t made my armor shine at all. How can I make my armor shine in game as it does in character selection? What option must I turn on?

I believe the option for making armor (and certain other objects) appear shiny is in the Lighting category, it's called Specular Lighting.
I don't know why it doesn't look the same in game as it does on character select, though... they both use the same graphics options.
Edit: By the way, bump mapping doesn't have much to do with making things look shiny... it's a way to give objects a textured appearance.

Thank you, this was the setting I was looking for. And it seems the character select uses a fixed graphic setting because I know I have bump mapping off yet it shows in character select.

There's also the Complex Shader Distance slider in the performance category of graphic options. Set it to anything greater than -1 and it should turn on the shineys.

yeah this was irritating to me as well when i played EQ2...the character selection screen always look so much cooler than in the actual game...the hair color in particular was off
