Well I picked up Auto Assault Yesterday and I have to say that so far I'm having a great time. The game is pretty different from anything that's out there now and seems to be pretty solid server and bug wise. Breaking it down pros and cons:
Pros
1. Good graphics. Not EQ2 level but there's a lot of visible in the cars you drive, your character as he walks around town and in the terrain.
2. It's different. There are very few (if any) MMOs based around vehicular combat like this.
3. Atmosphere. The game has pretty deep lore behind it and when you're playing you're frequently hit with it. In addition the areas seem real, I was driving around during a storm last night that was actually ripping light posts out of the ground, later I ended up in a kind of virtual war zone with artillery and orbital strikes pounding the ground around me while I fought holographic soldiers and drones.
4. Variety. There are a number of different vehicles to drive and each class is has it's own line of vehicles. So the none of the classes have the same vehicle. Your vehicle can also be "tricked out" with various items you can find while out killing enemies. Add to that the variety of weapons (you have slots for front, turret, and rear weapons) that can be added to your vehicle and It's very hard to find someone who's car looks like yours.
5. No death penalty. If you die the INC (A kind of futuristic towing company) sends a large VTOL aircraft to pick you up and take you to the nearest repair station. And you only lose a bit of time getting back to where you were.
6. Fast paced. If you're looking for a game that you can really feel like you've finished something in only a short time of playing than this is it. Everything is as fast as the vehicle you're driving.
Cons
1. An opening day patch download that's over 1 gig. Not all that rare but a bit annoying.
2. Not many players. The game doesn't have a very large amount of players right now, most servers last night were operating at a low or very low level. However it's still brand new, so that will probably change. And plus almost all low level content can be easily soloed.
3. Class issues. All of the classes that I've played have some abilities that are pretty much useless as they are. And there are a few classes which are not as well balanced.
Overall I'd give the game an 8/10 with my main gripe being the class issues. Other than that it's a great game that I'd recommend to anyone looking for a good, fast-paced, action-oriented MMO.
