Question on DragonShard game.

When I am playing a skirmish in dragonshard, how do you get past level 2 for your troops? I have the exp, I build and expand more then one post for any class, yet still it wont let me invest in level 3 or above, can anyone explain why?

1.) You have to have the experience.
2.) The structures for a particular unit type have to be adjacent to each other in the same cluster of four tiles. A typical 'city' has four such four tile blocks (i.e. 16 bocks total), and two structures for the same unit type on opposite sides of the city won't meet this requirement.
3.) iirc, there's a gold and dragonshard request as well, though it's been long enough since I last played that I don't recall for certain.

Given the fact that you can upgrade your troops to level 2 but not level 3, I suspect the problem is item #2. Just a guess, though.
