I just gave CoH another shot, and was wondering some pointers. I am going to try to solo a lot of it, and was wondering if my dark/dark scrapper will do well, and if there are some powers I should really get, and some that I dont need. Feedback soon would be nice since he is already lvl 8 and dont want to mess up XD

I have a DM/DA Scrapper, and I haven't had any problems with it so far. I chose to just focus on offense and ignore defense, taking every damaging power and slotting most of them with 2 acc, 3 dmg, 1 end reduction. Granted, I take a lot of damage but with 2 lifetap powers (slotted with 3 end reduction, 2 recovery time, 1 acc), I don't get into much trouble. As far as recommendations, I don't believe in a "perfect" build, I just tell people to think about how they envision the character and then make it fit.
edit: You can also get a character builder program that will run you through level by level with short power descriptions here: http://sherksilver.coldfront.net

Sweet, thanks. This is pretty fun so far, and I can solo a group of yellow minions most the time, which is good for grinding :) I will check that builder out.

I loved my Scrapper. Tiny little catgirl with Super Strength / Toughness.
With CoH, there's not much you can do to gimp yourself, and most builds will give you a high level of utility.
Since you're planning to solo a lot, it would be good to have decent defense, and to make sure you have at least one basic heavy-damage attack.
As a note, for the additional Power Pools, avoid the Leadership set altogether. It's really incredible for group dynamics, but for a soloist, it'll eat your endurance and give you little benefit.
I actually really like the Athletics Pool for melee types for the additional attacks and the benefits to both offense and defense, and it's also a good soloist pool.
[addendum] Oh, and be aware that any time you have a setup like Dark/Dark, you're going to have trouble with Dark opponents.

Ahh, yes. I forgot about that part. You will do less damage to undead and robots, as they are resistant to negative energy. Luckily all your attacks give two damage sets, one physical and one negative energy, so only the negative energy portion of your damage gets reduced against them. It's still a pain when fighting a group such as the Banished Pantheon where nearly everything is undead.

Ah, well that sucks. I plan on getting the Fitness poolpower running thing, then Stamina and then Super Jump and Acrobatic. Dark seems good for soloing too because it lowers their Acc so they wont hit as much, but I hope I dont have to fight many undead or robots

I remember fighting CoT demons with my dark/dark defender. Get one down to low health, and then watch it run far, far away... Got really bad when one of them managed to run itself into a doorway and get stuck in the top of the frame where I couldn't hit it.
>.<
Fortunately, I found a friendly player who zoned in and teleported it out to where it could be killed.
With regards to leadership - this is a CoV question, but does anyone know if the leadership pool helps with minions of a minion master?

I'm fairly certain I read that it does (my MM is only level 9, so I can't tell you from experience) but you might want to check the Mastermind forum on the official site for confirmation.

Yes, leadership does affect mastermind minions

They get leadership bonuses as per controllers if I'm not mistaken.

10% for controller/mastermind with Tactics
15% for controller/12% mastermind with Assault
2.75% for controller/mastermind with Maneuvers
27.5% for controller/mastermind with Vengeance
So seems they're on the same table, except for Assault where Masterminds are between Controllers and Blasters(etc). It's handy to have on a Mastermind, I like Tactics. Assault is okay, Maneuvers is underwhelming, and Vengeance can only be used on other players, not dead pets. Still a couple people with Tactics and Assault is fun, especially with multiple Masterminds.
