One of the entertainment headlines for today is "Tom Cruise backlash at the box office?". Yes, I'm tired of all the "TomKat" news and other celeb news. But, rarely has an actors off stage antics effected whether I see a particular movie.
Another story this week. 16 to 24 year olds are reported to have the highest occurances of bootlegging movies.
Now, what do I think the two stories have in common. You probably can already guess. Yep, the cost of going to the theater. Many moons ago when I was young. The cost of going to the theater and the minimum wage was about the same.
Now, the cost of a ticket in my area is $11.00, small popcorn is $3.50 and soda is $4.00. The minimum wage here is about $6.00. Of course, you'll have to subtract taxes and social security for actual spending money. Movies used to be considered a cheap date, but at $30 dollars for two. Add to that a big increase over the past couple of months to get to the theater.
BTW: Is MI3 really worth 5+ hours of work :) .
