Predicting console leaders is a faulty practice, you never know how a console will sell, what fads will emerge, or what people will gain / lose interest in. Predicting months ahead of time is not really an accuate practice unless you have a crap load of evidence or maybe future sight.

In the thread for example "Console Prediction" it was said that from the GC to the Wii there have been no improvements, this is incorrect. The controller now has motions sensors, and is more confortable (at least compaired to the old GC controller). Also graphics have been detailed better, considering how good graphics were on the original GC this is quite a feat. The ability to get old nintendo console games is a good idea, it is countering the ROM movement and at the same time supplying gamers with the original (at least i hope) versions of the games they love, and you get a controller to play them on unlike in ROMS where you need a keyboard, or have to pay 20 dollars for one you will never use for anything else probably, since most other games on PCs play well with a keyboard... with the exception of flight sims or any game that features some sort of flight (BattleFeild mainly i guess) but those use a joystick type controller.

Saying that the game lineup on the Wii is targeted at adults is incorrect. do people think kids are the only people who like to play games with sonic, or cartoon characters? if that was so then the smash brothers games would not have sold nearly as much as they did OR be as popular as they are. Games like smash bros, and many of the other ones coming to the Wii are targeted for everyone, containing no large amount of violence to rate a game M (usually) and enough to cause enough nostalgia to bring a grown man to his knees, combined with the downloadable games (much much much more nostalgia) this makes the Wii a strong force in the game market next generation, probably stronger than the 360, and maybe rivaling the PS3. Who doesnt want to play their old SNES and NES games? considering that the SNES had alot of great RPG games too (Tales of Phantasia in particular was never released in the states, maybe they will make translations for games that didnt make it to the states? lets hope so.)

On top of all this, the low price of the Wii (wasnt it around 300 dollars?) makes it a formadiable foe in the "console wars".

and I wouldnt say people play games for graphics, many people collect the old games for storyline and how it plays out, saying if you wanted story you'd buy a book is a faulty statement, after all, if they had a book for Metal Gear Solid, where would the sneaking fun be? if they had a book for Breath of Fire 3, you would never see the dragons or wander around the large world. BTW if anyone happens to find a book for BOF3, ill buy it, i loved that game and cant find it again, though i did find Castlevania (another great 2D game, not as much for the storyline but the fun you can have with it)

Oh right, and the Xbox 360 was not mentioned anywhere in that post for more than 2 lines, so it is my honost opinion that the poster was simply hating on the Wii rather than making a "Console Leader Prediction" if a person wants to make a console leader prediction, consider all of the consoles, since 360, while released way early, is still next gen. People are usually biased against certain companies though so its human nature.

Oh, and Square Enix isnt a "Japanese Microsoft" The problem with that statement is simply this: Microsoft makes useful and usually good things, Japanese companies tend to make these better, smaller, cooler. SquareEnix has neither made anything useful, good, smaller, or cooler. Theyve been following the same damn recipie left by the original Final Fantasy creators without adding some new ingredients, or simply making up stupid additions (instant in battle job change, 3 characters only, sequals / copies of FF games, DRAKENGARD) which take away flavor from the "dish" (cough FFX-2 cough idiots cough cough cough)

for the record : i have no clue how im supposed to give any reedeeming qualities on a wholley unfair and ungrounded opinion... uhhh.... good job finding the selling numbers is ALL i can think of.
