Well I got pulled into seeing this tonight with the wife, and I was going into it with an open mind. Despite the reviews from the critics to steer clear of this movie, she decided we'd go see it anyway. I mean, how often are the critics accurate depicting what your personal preference on a movie will be?

The movie starts off a little odd...without giving too much away it pretty much consists of Vince Vaughn's character, Gary, seeing Aniston's character, Brooke, at a Cubs game. A weird exchange happens, and then we're greeted with a photo montage of their relationship. The opening scene, in my opinion, would never lead to a relationship. Anyway, after the opening credits roll we're shown the two character's jobs. Gary works as a tour guide in Chicago, and Brooke for an extremely eccentric artist/gallery owner. Brookes character also works with Christopher (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0519043/), or if you've seen Dodge Ball, Justin. He looks absolutely hilarious as a gay receptionist.

Later in the evening a situation arises that, one could assume, has been the entirety of their relationship. Without giving much away Brooke is angry that Gary doesn't care, and Gary wants to be left alone. Huge fight ensues, large amounts of obscenities are thrown around, and the break up begins. The rest of the movie is spent with them trying to get back at each other whilst still living in the same condo. Some other issues are brought up about the other characters, but these are never actually ever talked about again. The ending...BIG SPOILER (or maybe not)

At the end Gary changes his ways, and prepared a dinner for Brooke. Apparently though Brooke brought home someone to go on a date with...or you think. She is actually showing a client some artwork in their condo (oh yeah forgot to say it, they're selling it). Anyway Gary opens up to Brooke about how wrong he was, and says he wants to get back together. She says she doesn't feel that way, and they go their separate ways. Eventually we are brought up to late fall/early winter and they meet up and do a little catch up and say goodbye. No get together or anything...meh...

I definitely wouldn't classify this as a PG-13 simply because of all the gd's, s words, and one or two f-bombs. It could be I'm a little uptight on the language thing but just my opinion. I'd also not suggest seeing this in the theater, but rather rent it. Over all...6.5/10
