Ok, I had a couple of posts in the Behold thread a bit ago, but I figured that this was a better place for these.
First (http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a216/bobthegoat/DSCN0020.jpg) we have a layout of 4 different bracelets. The first one is a chain of twisted pairs with interwoven leather strap to make a way to tie the ends together. The second is another twisted pair with nail clasp. The third is a parallel pari with nail clasp, the fourth one is a 3-1-3 chain.
Two (http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a216/bobthegoat/DSCN0021.jpg) is the one with the leather strap on my wrist.
Three (http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a216/bobthegoat/DSCN0022.jpg) is the same one, but showing the tie point.
Four (http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a216/bobthegoat/DSCN0017.jpg) this is a close up of the nail clasp.
Five (http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a216/bobthegoat/DSCN0016.jpg) Showing the nail clasp closed. And YES I filed the crap outa the end of the nail making sure that it is soft and will not poke my wrist.
Six (http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a216/bobthegoat/DSCN0040.jpg) This is two chains of twisted pairs linked together.
Seven (http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a216/bobthegoat/DSCN0042.jpg) This one is a Box Chain done with thinner wire.
Eight (http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a216/bobthegoat/DSCN0043.jpg) This is where I started trying Japaneese weave. From right to left you can see the two individual chains come together, it starts with a 6-1 weave (single connectors), then changes to 12-1 (pairs of connectors), then 18-1 (three connectors in each direction). This one was an experiment to see how things worked with this weave. I kept adding more and going to a tighter weave because the 6-1 is very lose.
Nine (http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a216/bobthegoat/DSCN0038.jpg) This one is a 12-2 weave. It is the same principal as the one in the last picture, but I double stacked the large rings. This is a very tight (i.e. FREAKIN HARD) weave.
Ten (http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a216/bobthegoat/DSCN0036.jpg) This is the same one, but showing the bar toggle clasp that I added.
Eleven (http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a216/bobthegoat/DSCN0035.jpg) This is the same one, but on my friends wrist.
If anyone wants one, PM me. Until I have used all 10 lbs that I started with, and get better I'm giving these away, (I've used 2 of 10lbs so far). I can ship them anywhere in US for less than $5.
Incase anyone is wondering, All of the rings are Galvonized Steel, the large rings are 12GA 3/8" ID, the small rings are 16GA 1/4"ID, the ones in the Box chain are 16GA 3/4" ID.

so when is a shirt of the stuff going to be done? ;)
Just as an example I made a strip that was 8" long and 3" wide. It took me 40 minutes. How many of those go into an XXL T-shirt?
The bracelets in the first pic take about 20-30 minutes to make with a clasp. The last one was a PAIN because the little rings barley fit around the big ones, so that one took almost an hour.

Sweet! My bf does a little chain mail jewelry & shirts. He's currently working on a choker for me in an intricate pattern called "elf weave". It's gorgeous.
I haven't the eye for pattern that either of you seem to, though he does say it comes with practice. Kudos and nice work! I'd be interested in seeing more when you get a chance :)

I tried doing jewelry mail work for a while, and I discovered I much prefer to make armour...more blisters, but fewer headaches.

Ok, New Pic. Japaneese 12-2 (http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a216/bobthegoat/DSCN0044.jpg) similar to the other one I posted, but wider. This one was a basterd. 82 large rings, and 180 little ones. I have a blister that popped, and another one re-formed under it. I think I may have to take a couple days off.

Due to the overwhelming response to the 100% discount to GU people, it may be a week or so. I'm going as fast as the blisters allow.
(Don't let me fool you, I love the thought of people wearing something I made, and will keep on giving them away until I'm out of rings.)

OK, new pics.
12) New Weave pic 1. (http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a216/bobthegoat/DSCN0065.jpg) I call this one “Just cut your fingers off with a bolt cutter, trust me it will hurt less.”
13) New Weave pic 2. (http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a216/bobthegoat/DSCN0067.jpg)
It earned this name because it uses about 250 rings, and it is the most difficult pattern I have made. I lost more skin on this one bracelet during the almost 4 hours to make it, than I have on everything else combined. (For the love of God, no one ask for this one. If I ever get around to selling these things, I’m going to ask a ridiculous amount of money for the pain and suffering involved in its creation. )
14) My own Design Choker pic 1. (http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a216/bobthegoat/DSCN0056.jpg) This is the first time I have created a design completely on my own. I don’t know if there is something similar out there, so I may have just re-invented the wheel, but it was fun none the less.

16) Keychain Fob. (http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a216/bobthegoat/DSCN0055.jpg)
17) Tiny Boxchain. (http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a216/bobthegoat/DSCN0054.jpg) I know that I have done these before, but this is with the smallest rings I have worked with. To give you an idea of scale, this photo was taken with it sitting on my roommate’s desk chair, the two black lines running vertically are the stitches at the fabric seam.

Ok, I've been busy. I finally got off my butt and made a photobucket gallery just for my maile stuff, because it was infringing on my private one too much.
http://s77.photobucket.com/albums/j43/theringman/
The ring sizes are mostly 12ga 3/8 and 16ga 1/4, with some 16ga 3/8 for flavor, and just a pinch of 20ga 1/8 (but I'm not a masochist, so not much). If anyone wants to know the specs on a particular pattern, just ask (and reference the photo name).
(p.s. many of these have been shown before, but are now in their own Photobucket account.)

I was wondering if I can literaly pay you to make me a XXL t-shirt one loosly fitting I would pay for the time and everything else just was wondering about it cuz I seen place that are rediculous. I want it for authenticity and to know a person took time and care.
Wow Bob, Thats really nice work and I like how the pictures evolve in complexity!

Have you thought about designing bracelets that can securely hold stones? like polished lapis, or turquoise, or labradorite, etc.

Like this? (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y115/Kallysti/ihnp-267075.jpg) (yes, that's mine & I'm showing off, lol). That's peridot & aquamarine. They're held on with wires between the weaves, it's rather delicate, though.
I love your work, Bob. Don't stop posting them :)
Dang thats cool Kallysti.

It's very cool, but I was thinking more of a wire-wrap non-drilling setting for a series of cabochons. (love slave bracelets. used to have a silver one with onyx, all delicate and lovely.)

No surprise ruined. I had recently just bought a bunch of item from Bob for my wife for this coming xmas. I was so excited and between my excitement Bob and my wife making comments about letting her wear them and just wrapping them for the holidays, I broke down.
We both love them and couldn't be happier with them! It was all I could do to get her to pick just one item to wear until December...I packed the rest up and put them away until then - I know, I'm evil.

Yeah, the Full persian feels a lot like box, the half persian lays flat, and is a odd feeling, but it is very comfortable. It feels like a loose watch band without a face.

I want to apologize to everyone that I have promised stuff too for it taking so long. I have someone that started buying simple stuff and is selling it at craft fairs for me, so that has taken up a lot of time. I've had a few orders for Christmas gifts, but the biggest has been a lady I work with. She saw This (http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j43/theringman/DSCN0287.jpg) on my wrist and LOVED it. I previously had said that I would never sell it or make another one because of what a PAIN it was to make. A normal bracelet averages about 75-150 rings. That one is almost 1000, and the size of ring is literally painful to work with. I have been working in Stainless Steel and Aluminum. They are cheap and fin to work with. I made her 4 necklaces in each of the different weaves that she likes, and she paid well for them, but wants them in Silver. These were more of a try it before you buy it mock up of what she wanted.
She asked me to make one of those from the photo for her in Sterling Silver. As a rough guide Stainless is the most expensive I work with at about $15-20 a pound. The sterling rings are $23+ per OUNCE. I counted the rings and did the math. I told her that the metal alone is about $100 plus shipping, and the last one I made took Well over 10 hours to make in 1 hour spurts because it is so difficult I can not keep it up. She wrote me a check for $250 and said "This should cover the metal, let me know what I owe you for the labor, but let me know if it is going to be more than another $200." I have not even got the metal yet and she has already ordered and paid for 4 necklaces in different styles. I can't wait to post pics!
Long story short, until I'm done lining my pockets by selling out, I have to stop working on the free stuff. On a positive note, this will definatly bolster the ammount of free stuff I can give away.
