I was a fan of the Davinci Code and Angel of Demons but felt the writing was lacking, so when I read the reviews that this book had similar ideas, but better writing I had to pick it up.

Map of Bones is a SIGMA Force book, which is a series done by James Rollins surrounding a Black Ops US Military team full of multi PH.D's and super inteligent scientists trained in weapons and military techniques. Their mandate is to secure technology from around the world, first keeping it out of the hands of the enemy by destroying it, and second to return it to the USA by aquiring it, or the plans.

This book is centred around the Catholic Relic the Bones of the Magi, what are supposed to be the earthly remains of the 3 wise men who visited Jesus when he was born in Bethlehem.

When the bones are stolen using some very interesting means, Sigma Force must find out who stole them, and why, and the answers are extremely interesting and involves an ancient scientific secret, known to few over the years, but lost to mankind, trips to Germany, France, Eqypt and more, a historical play on Alexander the Great, and many other great historical figures.

All in all, if your a fan of books that take historical reference, and add suspense and action I highly recommend this one, and I feel the writing and characters kick the crap out of Dan Brown, though I did like his books too.
