Alrighty, so i finished KOTOR2 after only recently finishing KOTOR.

Well for starters, it is a little more open to choices than the other one. Not quite as linear. When you make a choice it can really influence how the game goes.
It doesn't take quite as much thinking power in terms of the little mini-games. You don't have to know calculus to solve a problem, just a little bit of "well if this is this, than this must be this".

The new array of characters is pretty awesome. And there's even a couple old ones (droids mind you). HK-47 makes his return to answer the question, "HK-47, do you know what love is?".
You actually get a better feel for the characters and get them involved because there are several places where you can't use the main character.
From KOTOR, most players will know about the Mandalorian Wars that took place before KOTOR. Well now they are explained a little further and some unanswered questions from the first are answered in the second. Like, "What the heck happened?"

The nice thing about this is that you start out picking your class as a Jedi. But you still dont start out with force powers until you level up, and you don't have your lightsaber yet (the reasons get explained in the plot, which i will not spoil.). Then later you get to pick a prestige class, such as Jedi Weaponmaster, Jedi Master, or Sith Maurader and Sith Assassin (depending on your allignment of course.)
Then theres the new skeelz. Power attack is still an ugly sister to Flurry and Critical Strike, but theres more of the improvement skills like precise shot, close combat ranged weapons, finesse with certain weapons, and cross class skills.
Force powers have some new additions. Battle Meditation (which we learned about in KOTOR) is now a power (though not quite as fearsome as Bastilla's). You've got powers that come along as you advance in the game, so you can't just level up and get them.

Its still got the same look and feel of KOTOR1 with the same fighting system.

I give it a 8/10. Its a little short (because i only beat KOTOR1 like less than 2 or 3 weeks ago and im already done with the new one) and doesnt quite have the punch of KOTOR1. But very addicting and still worth it if you liked KOTOR1.

you forgot to mention the improved ability to make items and break down ones you dont need anymore, i especially enjoyed altering my sabre in Kotor 2, there was way more to add onto your armor and weapons.

And you can build various relationships and train other characters to become Jedi if you play the conversations right. Some like nice guy responses, some like a real jerk, and some like a balanced response

I liked the addition of some more humerous responses. Some of those seemed how i personally would respond to a similar situation. But it was also harder to decide which questions would gain influence or lose influence over the other characters. And some dark-side-light-side responses were a little more hidden, but for the most part it was "Be nice" or "Be mean".

I also liked the ability to construct and break down things. Because the item generating is random it makes it difficult to find whatever it is you might need or be able to improve certain items. In my game, i rarely found Lightsaber parts (albeit plenty of lightsabers) so i ended up making a few of them with one of my characters who had the highest skills. The Workbenches scattered all over the game was a nice addition, since if you had a character better suited to that sort of thing than the others then you could bring them to the work bench and have them plug away at it.

though i HATED that jedi woman, theres no winning with her dammit!

you give a guy money, you lose influince for not listening to her! if you dont then youre not gaining lightside points, if you kill the guy then you might gain influince with her for ending his misery but you get darkside points!

MAKE UP YOUR MIIIND!!!

I LOVE this game! Not as much as I love KOTOR, but still. We make the Jedi babies. That makes me soooo happy! THe lightsaber thing is kind of irritating though. And I don't like that the love story never solidifies, plus the ending is just bitchy. I'm dying for news about KOTOR 3. I want to finish the series!!!!

Yeh the ending was cheesy, but I liked the overall story of the game. But when one gets down to actual nuts and bolts play its a btter thought out game than KOTOR 1.

When I really want a good, unencumbered, use of jedi powers, I reinstall Jedi Acadamy. The lightsaber battles and force powers are alot more dynamic. If I hooked my char up with a doubble bladed saber the battles were fought at a quick pace, and I could have sworn I was Darth Maul :). I also enjoyed the fact the powers were really free form. I could force jump above my enemies and force pull them up into the air if I wanted to. I could push them off ledges or use choke to drag them off the side of bridges. Unfortanately the story is lacking, IMO.

My first time through KOTOR2 I started out with a single-bladed green lightsaber, but then i started building up my two-weapon skill stuff and made a double-bladed orange saber. With the double-bladed mastery and the Jedi Weapons Master combo, I was hell on wheels, especially on Onderon.

The first time through i played a male-good character, but my second time ive played a female-evil character. So far the way characters treat you is interesting compared to a good character. And the fact that the more evil you get, the scarier looking you get. I had a fairly good looking red-head character and now she's all spookey pale with freaky hair and dark rings around her eyes.

mm yeah, i stuck to being good since for some reason being evil never pays off in any games, even in this game where you can only pretty much be evil or good.

(huh... fable's evil isnt very amazing isnt it? a bit over the top too once you reach maximum evil "rank" i mean... horns and buzzards! wth, im evil but i still deserve some freaking respect, i wouldnt mind if darkness seemed to follow me and i had an option for horns since they screwed over most hairstyles but the bugs are too much, and now molenoxeneu wants 1 hit kill swords, PEOPLE WEAR ARMOR FOR REASONS YOU IDIOT)

Did you notice that you have to perform at least 1 unprovoked murder to get Atton on your side? It's kind of interesting. And I had no problems when I was dark side (except my own head problems, I don't like being evil)

KOTOR 2 was a major disappointment for me. I loved the first one (the game that made me like Star Wars in the first place) but the sequel just let me down. The story was more mature but unsatisfying (way too many plot-holes), the Influence system sucked (you'd never know which character would you get more Influence for doing a given action) and you cut through the whole game like a hot knife through butter because it's so insanely easy.

I think even Fable was a better RPG and it disappointed me too (so much potential... soooo much) because at least there you would have some interesting things to do and the combat and level up system were really great.

Of course that I would love to read the opinions of other people so that we can discuss this point further.
