so ive been playing WoW ever since it came out but lately with some issues ive been having with blizzard ive been thinking about other games and i thought id try EQ2 since its kinda of WoWs competitor. Ive played the trial game but i didnt really get to play it since back then my computer was horrible but now that its been upgraded i think i can play it better.
questions about EQ2
1. are there raid like content?
2.any pvp?
3. are the quests (if they have em) fun?
4. how does the company (im guessing Sony?) treat its customers
5. is there jumping (stupid question but i cant play a mmo if it doesnt have jumping :P )
6. is it user friendly?

1. Yes, at high levels
2. Yes, if you go on a PVP server.
3. Quests? You can't walk 5 feet without bumping into one. And, for the most part, they're fun and have some depth to em.
4. It's an MMOG. They treat their customers the same way all MMOG companies treat their customers. That's all I'm saying.
5. Yes.
6. Uh.... I guess so. There isn't a terrible amount of clutter on the screen, and the controls are intuitive.
One thing that's majorly different is levelling- it's a tad slower than WoW.

I haven't played since a little after the Desert Expansion, but as far as it being user friendly at that time, the first 10 levels are basically a quest driven tutorial that introduces you to most aspects of the game. Then you get set loose on your city and the world.
I really enjoyed playing, but it got to a point for me where I couldn't play enough to keep up with my guild so I fell behind, then life got busy so I stopped playing.
The depth of the world is amazing, and very engrossing if you like that sort of thing

Download the new free trial. You'll see a ton of differences since you first tried it (how long ago?) and upgraded your PC.

1) I don't honestly know. I solo'd to 41 conjuror/67 provisioner so far. Not in a guild, have never grouped and have no desire to do either at this point. :)
2) There's Antonia Bayle. I don't know if there's another server.
3) Question is: Can you walk by an NPC without being offered a quest, hearing their tale of woe, give in to their pleading to go to another zone and pick up a broom or agonizing over whether or not to help them find jumjum? :) I find them entertaining and a lot of fun. Good xp and rewards also.
4) I've not had to deal with Sony yet. They bill my card correctly every month, notify when the servers are coming down(so far), usually keep them down for an hour unless it's a big patch and that's all I ask.
5) Yes!! You can jump right off a cliff if you like! (I do this way too often in Antonica by not paying attention) ;)
6) I got used to the controls quickly(EQ1 cleric/beastlord for 5 years) and have had no issues since.
As an aside, I logged into EQ1 the other day as they sent me a free trial in the hopes to get more of my mon... err... to get me to come back. It was like slogging through mud. Slushy mud. With large rocks in it. Barefoot. The controls I spent years playing with were so foreign to me I lasted oh... say... 4 minutes.(no, really)
EDIT - Grammar ... I hate grammar. Eesh!

1) Yep, at all levels, in fact. There are quite a few wandering 2-group boss mobs in most overland zones, and SOE just introduced a series of level-scaled guild raids so anyone can do them. Most of the raid content is high level, however.
2) Yep, PVP servers, and dueling and arena options on non-PVP servers. Note that the arena requires the Desert of Flames expansion
3) THOUSANDS of quests (literally). I find them extremely fun, because even if I just have some Kill X quests to do, at least I have a goal. But more and more, SOE is introducing some really nifty new quest concepts.
4) In all my years of EQ1 and 2, I've never had a problem with SOE. I know others have, but I can't comment on such things.
5) Yes, jumping...I hated that about FFXI too :P
6) I think it's pretty user friendly these days. The new newbie islands have a lot of tutorial material, and setting up the UI how you want it is reasonably easy if you right-click on windows and read the menu options.

so how much is the monthly fee? and like someone said where can i download the new trial version and thanks for yalls input!
I got another question, right now I'am still attending highschool (senior woot) and I would like to know if I did do raiding content or just leveling would it take ours upon ours to even get somewhere? Eh maybe to help yall understand what I mean, in WoW you have to spend a good amount of time in a raid content dungeon, is it like that on EQ2?

When My guild was raiding, we'd start at 9pm and take down 4-5 raid mobs before 1am. Some people came for just 1 fight, some stayed all night.
If you're organized, you can take down most of the Old raid mobs in 30mins or less.
I don't know about any new stuff

i dont suggest the free expansion, i doubt it does the game justice.
i dont like the new class system (last time i checked it was 4 basic classes with a tree for each, is that still implamented?)
i also was confused by the high drop rate for "Rare items" just didnt seem right...
quests are...quests. you kill and collect things, i dont know how you can make those fun
the battle system is annoying if you ask me now, you cant get assistance with your kills unless you let it come, the game locks mobs from being attacked by other people, and now they bind mobs together, as in if you attack one, the other will come regardless of what happens.
this can be painful.
new attack system, combo based for warriors and such, intersting.
graphics are good, but then again if they werent theyd be in deep trouble.
only gripe i have is that it wasnt really as fun as EQ was, at least as i remember it, the training island wasnt really large so i cant speak of the games size, but i felt sort of limited by the game.

This was recently revamped, and has some great content on it. Good and evil have different islands, as well.
EQ2 costs about $15/month
As for some of the above...there's no more class trees, essentially, encounters are no longer locked except for raid fights...a lot has changed since KaiTenSatsuma played, it seems.
