Although I was already heavily into comics when I was introduced to Elfquest, this series by WaRP Graphics became my first true comics obsession. The original series consisted of 20 issues, which would sometimes be spread 3-4 agonizing months apart, and was simply amazing entertainment.

The basic storyline is that an alien race had to flee their dying planet and find somewhere else suitable to live. They set their sights on an alternate version of Earth in the Dark Ages or Middle Ages, and since they were originally shapeshifters, morphed their forms into what we would consider classical "high elves" if you will. Unfortunately, the servents of these aliens, a race which would later become the trolls of the series, staged a revolt and caused the ship to crashland at a much earlier time period... roughly Earth's Pleistocene.

I won't spoil anymore of the storyline, but I strongly encourage anyone who hasn't been exposed to Elfquest, head over to their website:

And check it out. Be sure you read the original series before exploring any of the other offshoots. The best way to read it imo would be to order the 4 graphic novels which comprise the original series.

My dad has the original series in his closet. I was a HUGE fan of Cutter and the gang =)

Yes I remember cutter and that awesome Wolf/reigndeer armor they had at the end of the series. His wife is also hot and the half troll was cool too. Alot of blood and nookie but meh. That is what the day and age was like yer not likely to live so you might as well have fun with any downtime ya can get heh.

... they did know how to draw a woman's form yowzaa thinkin of that; does stick to one's mind... if ya read the series as an 12 year old boy like I did heh.

I was about 12-13 when the series ended, so yes...

I bought all 4 graphic novels which reprinted the series in color, only to later on sell off my entire comic collection... Anyway, re-purchasing the series is definately on my list.

The plate armor that Two-Edge (the half-troll) made for the elves was indeed cool, and gave them the edge over the Frozen Mountain trolls.

I don't collect comics. I don't even read them. I do, however, have the first 5 elfquest comics in plastic baggies. My mother gave them to me.

So, yea, you aren't the only one who has heard of them.

I had the TPBs for the original Elfquest series as well, Zarithar.
It is, to date, one of my favorite stories, comic or otherwise.
I always identified rather closely with Skywise.

I seem to always be Two-Edge whether I want to be or not.

I just picked up the first 3 of the Elfquest Archives put out by DC. These are hardcover, re-inked, high quality reprints of the original series. The 4th will wrap up the original quest. Highly reccommended, though they are a litte pricey. I suggest looking for them used on Amazon.
