I finaly gave this game a good look at and i had 2 question that might make me buy it.
1. the ranger class. it it like eq2 where you fire a bow slowly and have more combat skills for a sword then the bow, or like wow where you fire the bow faster and have a lot of skill for the bow?

2. if i made a ranger/elemtist can i put elemantal attackes o my arrows?

Rangers in Guildwars don't get any melee skills that im aware of. They fire a bow at the same attack rate as everyone else if left to just auto attack, but they have ways off speeding things up like skills that improve the flight speed of arrows so they hit in about 1 second insted of 2.

If you have elementalist for a secondary class you wont be able to 'enchant' your bow attacks, you will just cast the spell you click then go back to auto attacking. The ranger class get some skills like 'exploding arrows' that acts as a short term buff where all your arrow attacks will explode on contact and do aoe damage.

I'm not positive that it works on bows, but the conjure elements line of elementalist skills (there's one for each element), if used in conjunction with an elemental weapon, makes your weapon do bonus damage.

ie: if i had a fire damage sword and cast conjure fire, the sword would do normal damage +5-12 (based on ranks in fire) fire damage. However, bows attack kind of slow, so i'm not sure that this would be a super viable option for rangers (as compared to faster daggers or swords).

Rangers are actualy super versatile. They can be archers, thumpers (ranger/warrior knock down specialists with their pet), or touch rangers (ranger/necromancer who lifetaps fast and hard), or trappers. and in those you have various builds you can try.

how are the dervishes so far, just picked up nightfall, was thinking either ranger or dervish as primary class.

Answer 1. You just fire a bow and that's all and tame beasts, make traps, and a whole lot of useless junk.

Answer 2. No, you cannot put your attacks on them. Since you have infinite arrows. :)
