Nostradamus

So, I'm reading a lot of older, stranger, more world-religiony stuff lately. I picked up the Quatrains of Nostradamus for free on the nets, and I've been reading them. I'm curious how the heck people turn his ramblings into actual predictions for actaul events. Has anyone out there read this? I'm so confused.

I've watched several shows about him on the history channel. They did a pretty good job of explaining the similarities.
It was pretty cool stuff, except for the fact they mention his writings going up only to a certain point. And so they've asked, "is this the point where the world ends?" personally i think he got writers block and couldn't think of anything else to make prophecies about.
