Alrighty...so these forums don't see a lot of movement, but I'm going to be adding my new games I've been playing. And the obvious first is Enchanted Arms.
Enchanted arms is an exteremly fun, if not extremely cliche, Action RPG game. The game is no Final Fantasy, but it definately has a fun factor to it. You play as Atsuma, who is a student at Enchanter School, who has a tendency to cause chaos whenever he comes into contact with golems or anything enchanter oriented. I don't want to go into great detail as to why, because it kinda ruins the progession of the game.
The game starts out with a fight that you must lose, and then goes into how that day all started. Atsuma, Toya, who is bascially your best friend, and Makato, and he's possibly the most annoying charater ever. In fact, I would suggest playing the game with the TV muted through the "tutorial" phase of the game. This charater is most definately of the homosexual orientation and has a rather flamboyant personality. Luckily though you don't have to play him after the "tutorial" phase is over.
Now I've been calling this the "tutorial" phase because they really lay it out how you need to play, what you need to do, and how. It's a semi-slow paced beginning, but it's nice and it will get you familar with the game play.
Upgrading weapons invovles buying core material from shops, which just happen to be all over the world, and synthesizing them using various materials found from killing golems. You can also synthesize golems through the shops, by the same means you create the weapons.
Oh yes, I forgot to talk about golems. These golems are bascially enchanted robots. There's all different kinds, from civilian golems who perform very basic but needed tasks, to military golems. These golems are either controlled or just set to go about their tasks with minimal human interaction, think along the lines of i-Robot. There are different types of golems based on elemental powers. You have water, fire, air, dark, light, and earth (might be a couple more but I can't remember) Each element has the potential to deal double the damage to its counterpart element. The healing roles are usually filled by the water and light, there's support by earth, damage is usually fire and dark, and almost all classes have some sort of debuff ability.
Then there's the most powerful golems, which are Devil Golems. There are only a few of these left in the world, and they're all locked away for fear of another Golem War. Bascially if too many Devil Golems fought the world would end. Through some series of events that I will not get into, one of these Devil Golem is released upon the world and it is your job as Atsuma to destroy this Devil Golem and bring order once again to the world.
I haven't finished this game yet, but so far I'm really enjoying it. I've put about 10 hours into the game, and I've collected a ton of golems. You usually get them from boss fights, or from random golems that are just sitting there.
Oh yeah...the combat system. It's a turnbased combat system that is reliant on your position. Your team, which consists of any 4 people of your choosing, sits on one side and the bad guys sits on the other side. You cannot cross the ambigious line, which can be a pain if the enemy has a long range ability and is sitting all the way at the back. You can move how ever much you want during your turn and perform one action per active character.
So that's the basics of Enchanted Arms...overall 8.5/10
