Did you buy the cd-rom version of the game or the DVD version of the game? If you bought the latter you would need a DVD-rom player to use it. If you have both the DVD-player and the DVD-rom version you should check to see if the latest drivers are available for you player.

yea i kinda kicked myself when i found out, is there a cd-rom version of this game? it just seems kinda wierd (and stupid) that they would make all of there other games cd-rom but then pull a fast one and switch to dvd-rom

It's not really pulling a fast one. More and more new games are starting to appear on DVD now since it limits the number of discs that you have to put your game on. That keeps the production costs down, and also helps us consumers because it means we have fewer discs to worry about (nothing worse than trying to find a game I want to reinstall, and realizing that I can't find one of the discs). Also, DVD games tend to be clearly labeled on the package, so it's merely a matter of learning to keep an eye out for them.

Dawn of War shipped on three CDs in a double-size jewel case. Winter Assault shipped on two cds in seperate paper sleeves. Dark Crusade only takes up a single DVD.
