The Kushiels Series by J. Carey has to be one of my all time favorites. The novels included are:

I highly recommend this as it is a story full of wonderful plot twists, exciting fantastical lands and peoples and follow the travels, written in the first person, of one Phedre Delauney. This heroine is quite unique and her method of subterfuge and "spying" is quite interesting. It is adult themed in the sense that there is some semi-graphical candid verbiage around sex, but otherwise is quite wonderful. I highly recommend it and give it a 9 of 10.
