1/16 Comic will be Severely Late
An hour from being finished with today's strip, Photoshop CS crashed and took all of my work with it.
I'd like to say this is the first time this has happened, but it would be an outright lie. Photoshop 7 did this to me quite a bit. CS does it too but far less often. Just far enough apart for me to get out of the habit of saving every 5 minutes. But when it goes, it goes hardcore, taking all of my workarea settings with it. And that's what happened here, everything gone, leaving me with nothing excet a headache and a deep seated need for violence. It is EXACTLY times like this when I feel like 8 hours of work every day on the comic are not worth the other 8 hours a day spent scrounging for donations and advertisers. And, I garauntee you, if there was another program out there that can do what photoshop does that had proven itself more stable... I'd never touch another Adobe product out of spite. So... the comic is going to be really late as I have to completely recolor it. If you'd like to give coloring it yourself a go: Feel Free. Kiss my ass Adobe Photoshop CS. |

I think one of those many patents listed at the beginning is for gremlins to come infest your computer and wait till it would be the worst possible time to dump your work. (Me? Been there, done that? Darn straight.)

oh wow I just looked and there's no autosave in PS CS2. Other Adobe products have it. Wonder why not PS.

There's probably no autosave because it is so resource intensive already your computer would probably lock up every 5 minutes for 6 minutes or so....

Heh... another Adobe-grumbler... I've had to deal with a ton of headaches caused by the lame way Adobe Acrobat and Reader are designed. How do you deal with a program that gives different print results from identical installations* and an installer that crashes computers?
Yikes, that looks like an intense coloring job, too. I'm an obsessive saver. I save my documents about every ten minutes whether they need them or not. Then again, I don't deal with huge image files, so my saves only take the time it takes to hit the save button without any wait beyond that. * true story: Went to Kinko's to print out a sign. They popped it into a machine, previewed it, then printed it. It lost one of the patterns so a set of letters was grey rather than tiger-striped. They popped it into the machine sitting next to the first one and it printed just fine. I know someone who worked there and both machines were identical and had been set up only two weeks prior. ^-.-^ |

The full color image is now up, finally. I do like the way the colors turned out, but the first one better because I spent more time on it.

What about GIMP? It's open source, and free.. GIMP : Photoshop :: OpenOffice.org : Microsoft Word. That sort of thing...
