Same could be said of Cameron's last record-shattering blockbuster.

The plot was thin, and almost predictable with the exception of figuring out what Jake was gonna do when it came to leaving the tribe or staying with his Avatar. but was very entertaining. The visuals were beautiful.. Which makes watching it on a huge screen in 3D a must (we didn't hit up the local HD theater, instead we went to AMC.. In hindsight, I wish we waited and watched it at the HD theater). We loved the movie, and the only drawback was what I said earlier, which was the thin plot. 4.5 of 5. We are going to get this on special edition DVD, and might even see it again in theaters. |

pretty much agree with everything Tenolein said, with two additions: 1) My original worries were that they would take the whole advanced civ overrunning and abusing a less-advanced civ too far, and thankfully, they didn't. Granted, it's subtle, but there were a lot of aspects that hammer it home that it wasn't that clear-cut: being so far from earth, probably 3-5 light years (depending on the speed of the sleeper ships), it takes years for communications to travel back and forth between Terra and Pandora. This means government oversight is difficult at best, and on-site decisions are in the hands of the corporate administrator, who was a greedy little elitist prick. Likewise, there were factions within the humans who were trying to preserve the Na'avi, but were pushed aside by the corporation. It was also made clear that the people back home would react very badly to conflict with the indigenous population, which means it wasn't so black-and-white as I had feared they would make it, and a bit more (though still not very) realistic., and 2) Michelle Rodriguez looks so utterly hot in Na'avi warpaint

SO MUCH BLOOD!

Just saw it tonight. And it exceeded my expectations. I was floored! A must see and I agree with what Breandan said. I give it 5 Stars! I would easily see it again.

Went to go see it today. It got preachy, but only for a little bit. The bad guys were all bad, so it was a little simplistic. I can see the Dances With Wolves parallels. Thought the warrior women were totally hot.

Yes.. I would be lying if I told you I didn't sport any kind of primal 'urge' in the lower part of my body looking at them large, blue warrior chikas..

I have to say it was a great piece of straight forward storytelling. You could predict what would happen but it was all about the journey to the destination. Absolutely beautiful visuals. The length of the movie was a non-issue as I was so enthralled in what I was seeing, time passed very quickly. I'll give it
